a highly credible source (meaning a certain Mrs Folds) tweeted this picture of her husband beginning to work on the collaborative effort between Ben and Nick Hornby. Other than that, I got nothin. Ben still hasn't emailed back our chat questions (though Brian did say he's working on them), but maybe during this time when he's off tour for a little more than a month he can fit us in. Also September 30th in Dallas (The Meyerson Symphony Hall) was announced today. The rest of the tour is currently listed here. 10/28 - Veteran's Memorial Auditorium (Columbus, OH)

Ben Folds Presents: University A Capella! came out today. It's better than I even expected. On my premature evaluation. I thought it'd be kind of novelty-ish, and it was a bit weird to hear a female voice the first time, but I think it ended up really well done. The album hit the US store of iTunes today. And Ben was on CNN's Music Buzz today. It's rather funny. Myspace has done a feature on the record as well, and has this mini-documentary uploaded. The video is too long for youtube, I think. I will wokeup it eventually. Also... In case you were unaware, we had this little online chat with Ben Folds himself today. And, much to my surprise and wonder we were also joined by Jared Reynolds, Sam Smith, Chad Chapin and Andrew Higley. Our chat had over 110 people in at one point, the more the merrier, I say, but the more the chaotic too. And I will be emailing in the questions that never got answered. If you missed it, you can watch it in real time here. I will work on transcribing it, but it will take a long, long, long, long time. And lots of patience. Anyway; recap. He doesn't know when he'll be touring in the UK next. (Sorry guys). He did say a lot of fall dates for orchestra and then solo shows are already being nailed down for here in the US. Ben also said, which I'm not completely sure of it's 100% truthfulness, that Jared picks out the openers. If this is true, Jared's music taste sure has gotten better over the years I've been listening to him. Or maybe that's just mine... Well, whatever the case might be, we (Mel and I) shouted at them for not having The Old Ceremony on tour, Django told us in May that they were supposed to open those shows that Julia Nunes did, and Ben said he'd look into it. Speaking of Mel, Ben joined in one of our boards' favorite pasttimes, making fun of her. Ha. Also, I dunno if this was public knowledge or not, but Ashton asked about why Prison Food was named that, after all, it has nothing to do with prisons or food... and apparently it's just the fake name it had in the studio, and they never found a name to rename it to. On song updates; He'd like to finish Chicago (that's what he calls it. Quick, everyone change your tags) but it hasn't happened yet. We also learned why that verse was cut out of Give Judy My Notice between Silverman and the EP. Ben said that with the "being loved by default" bit made him not like the character, and so it went. (Too bad for me I love that analogy). Ben also likes his applesauce through a straw. You know I'd have to give you some ridiculous fact.... and speaking of.... ....the explanation of the title of this post - we for some reason spent a considerable amount of time talking about pooping. All the boys in the band seem to think the female half of our species does not poop. *Except Jared Reynolds

Got a late email request from Jon - one of the managers at Vector - that we need to change the chat to an hour prior 6 pm - 7 pm Central time. That means midnight in the UK, 7 in Perth, 8 in Tokyo. OK, so Jon sent over how this is going to go down. You will all have to go over to benfoldsacappella.ning.com and register, then create a profile.
The Chat feature is at the bottom right of the screen and works just
like facebook chat.
At 7pm CST (00:00 UTC Wednesday, 01:00 UK, 08:00 Perth, 09:00 Tokyo - thanks Kirk) Ben will log in and begin the chat. Sorry about the account duplication thing. Ben's tech guys has deemed this the only way we're going to be able to do this. We're still taking questions on this thread for those not able to get there for whatever reason.

Tomorrow/Today (depending on your time zone). Ben will be talking about the upcoming a cappella record. They've already run a little feature. Check your local listings. Speaking of the a capella record. It drops on Tuesday in the US. (Amazon is the only place to pre-order it that I can find, and it's already ranked 116th in music sales over all.) And speaking of that Ben Folds.... Our Chat is this TUESDAY. 7PM - 8PM Central Time (1AM Wednesday in the UK). Watch for more details. There will be some, I will post them after I've talked to Jon on Monday. You will have to pre-register to participate. First off, Ben's been answering fanclub questions that we never got to in our chat earlier this month. I've cross posted them here and here. AND Here! Highlights of that include more talk of a Messner reissue; "There's no telling what Sony will decide to do now that I'm getting to the end of my contract. I would be happy for them to put that out, possibly with the extra tracks that I just described in the prior question. A double album with the Myspace show version would be interesting. The mixes of that sound amazing. They did not sound amazing on the broadcast which was a shame but probably necessary to compress files or whatever. I'd also like to reissue some of those records on proper vinyl some day." Then, just to let you know we are in talks with Ben's managment team getting our own Q&A together. The moment I check my email and have a 100% for certain date and time (or Andy does, who's on vaction currently... but we have only ever discussed one date) you will see it here. It will be soon. I mean, very soon. If you do not think you will be able to fit it in your schedule, send either Andy or myself an email or a PM with your question and we'll dish them out at him as well. (If it's possible.) Or maybe they'll be giving us an admin from the management side of things. Obviously do not know all the details quite yet. UPDATE: I'm in the midst of playing phone tag with one of the guys from Vector. He said "next week" however. So start thinking of those questsions! Thirdly, before you get your hopes up this is not real. But I hope it turns into a good time. I miss the old one. And lastly, you fans in Japan have your next dish of Folds dates headed your way.
