RCA Studio A May Be Acquired By Developers

Which would mean (at least) one thing; Ben would lose operation of the historic Chet Atkins' RCA Studio A (which they just recently rebranded as Grand Victor Sound. Ben wrote an absolutely wonderful plead to the city of Nashville to not let this happen. You can read it on his Facebook Here. Also Nashville Scene did a great write up (Ben's post is included).
Here at theBurbs, of course, we hope things do not force Ben to sell. I, for one, can speak highly of the afternoon I got to spend at RCA Studio A back in October of 2006, for the "Live at My Space" DVD. I know there are other burbians who have spent time there as well. Not to mention the great sounds and albums this studio has given us, from Silverman through Life of the Mind, each record has at least been partially recorded in RCA A.
In other news, Ben Folds was a maniac and had a crazy adventure Bonnaroo week. He appeared for one song ("Space Captian" by Joe Cocker, fan video) and then went to Houston to play with the symphony only to return to the magical land of Bonnaroo to play "Grey Seal" alongside Sir Elton John. I was shocked to read that they drove all that distance instead of flying, but what a wonderful surprise for all of us out in the audience. I couldn't stop laughing I was so surprised to see him there. I will never forget Elton John calling Ben one of his favorite "artists, and piano payers, and composers and also one of my favorite photographers." Watch the fan video of that here! The main stage crowd on closing night of Bonnaroo went nuts when Elton annouced Ben, it was a real pleasure to witness.
And in Darren news: Darren's on tour with indie star Sharon Van Etten touring internationally!
