Own A Key From Ben's Piano
8/October/2011 - 8:19
What can a broken piano do for the Nashville Symphony? Quite a bit if that piano belongs to Ben Folds. The Nashville singer-songwriter and Sing-Off judge has autographed the individual keys of a piano that was damaged in the Nashville flood and will sell them online, with all proceeds going towards the Symphony's Annual Campaign supporting its artistic and educational programs.
The "Keys to Music City" campaign isn't the first time Folds has teamed with the Symphony - he performed with them at TPAC last November to raise money for the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, which sustained $40 million in flood damages. He was also elected to the Symphony board last month.
Folds' autographed piano keys are available to purchase for a minimum donation of $88 each at bit.ly/BenFoldsKeys.
Another silver lining to Folds' flood losses: it inspired him to salvage archival recordings for the collection The Best Imitation of Myself: A Retrospective, which hits stores on Tuesday.
This piano being the piano seen for years in the US on tour. Only question is, what do you do with it when it gets to your house. No idea if they are doing international shipping.
