EP and DVD news from Japan!

Japanese Mega-fan Asumi dropped by the Magical Armchair mailing list to share some news about Japanese release dates.

It seems that Mr. Folds will be getting a DVD all to himself this December, right in time for Christmas!

According to Asumi, the 13 track DVD will be in Japanese stores on December 17th. The tracklisting is as follows:

1. Not the Same
2. Philosophy
3. Army
4. Album Art Antics
5. Eddie Walker
6. The Ascent of Stan
7. Annie Waits
8. Narcolepsy
9. Best Imitation of Myself
10. The Last Polka
11. Gone
12. Tiny Dancer
13. Song for the Dumped (minor)

It's not clear where else the DVD might be released, or in what quantity, but the Japanese DVD standard is Region 2, the same as Europe, so us European fans at least have a contingency plan.

The three EPs being only released online will be sold through stores in Japan in a limited quantity of 10,000 pressings each. I know... that doesn't sound very "limited" does it? :)

The dates are as follows:

03rd Dec 2003 : Speed Graphic
17th Dec 2003 : Ben Folds Live (with bonus DVD)
15th Jan 2004 : Sunny 16
18th Feb 2004 : Super D

From the information available, it looks as if the DVD will be made up from the same film footage found on the Ben Folds Live bonus DVD, with some extra songs added.

But does this news mean that the EPs will make it onto shelves in other countries? Considering the international success of the Attacked by Plastic online store, I wouldn't hold your breath!
