Can we piece together BFF's *other* 4th album? (post-Messner)
« on: September 10, 2015, 11:59:15 PM »
Post Messner we were getting a pretty good mix of studio/live/and solo project tracks that were mentioned as purposed for the never finished BFF 4th album to follow tUBoRM.  I'm thinking like "prince charming" type of tracks.

What's the closest we can get to a tracklist?  I am really really curious about this time in the BFF timeline and kind of fear it will be forgotten now that we have an *official* BFF 4th album (tSOtLoTM).  To think - it was almost the 5th full studio album.

Anyone tried to piece this all together?  Allison?
I use way #345 to hide my redneck past.

Wandering is Ben/Darren

Wasn't it primarily a Ben composition with a Darren contribution (a la Brick)?  Also, was Darren co-writer of Food Court or It's All Right With God?

Brick is a Folds/Jessee composition - even if Darren just wrote the chorus (like Brick) he still gets line credit.

What I know about Food Court - is that's a Folds only. It's All Right With God I think is probably credited all three (oddly though, they played it at the 2006 live at My Space concert). Seems like a instrumental/jam -like For All the Pretty People, which is a Folds/Jessee/Sledge song.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, Darren had come up with the chorus line and Ben recorded it for 100 Girls, but he just recorded the chorus line.  Then, he wrote a whole song around it when he was working on stuff for the three EPs.

Tell Me What I Did
Break Up at the Food Court
Wandering
Amelia Bright
The Secret Life of Morgan Davis
Price Charming
Rock Star
I Knew That'cha Could
Hero's Song
Losing Lisa

(In that order)

Aren't (I could be wrong) Carrying Cathy and Sentimental Guy that era-ish too? Though, 11 makes a solid record

Was Losing Lisa ever a Ben Folds Five song?  Frally is listed as the co-writer.

Carrying Cathy dates back to Ben Folds Five, but if I recall, Folds said they didn't record it because it seemed too easy for its emotional content or something.

I wasn't aware then, but Frally was around Messner Era, using the Twins' birthday and Messner's "birthday" as reference. Band wouldn't break up for another year.

"Losing Lisa" was always a solo Folds song.  And there is tell that "Carrying Cathy" was actually recorded during the Reinhold Messner sessions but has never been made available. Then, Ben recorded his solo version.

Yeah, I remember the RtS promo materials actually saying something to the effect of Carrying Cathy being "the last Ben Folds Five song."
