Indianapolis BFF 10/3 Set-list
« on: October 04, 2012, 11:12:29 AM »
Set list
1. Michael Praytor, Five Years Later
2. Missing the War
3. Hold That Thought
4. Jackson Cannery
5. Selfless, Cold, and Composed
6. Erase Me
7. Alice Childress
8. Sky High
9. Landed
10. Thank You for Breaking My Heart (first time played live)
11. Battle of Who Could Care Less
12. Do It Anyway
13. Brick
Parts of "The Cover of the Rolling Stone" popularized by Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show, "Solitaire" byNeil Sedaka, "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Oh Sherrie."
14. "Draw a Crowd"
15. Narcolepsy (someone interrupted with, "play that note!" during Sledge's repeated note right before the final chorus, which prompted a jazz interlude)
16.Kate
17. Army

Encore:

18. Magic
19. Song for the Dumped

Drunk, annoying crowd but the band sounded great. The harmonies and energy worked really well, and Ben's voice seems stronger and younger than I've heard in a long time.
Look out kid,
they keep it all hid.

Also, "Erase Me" worked really well live. It has an energy you don't notice as much in the recording.

I thought it was a great show. Significantly shorter than other BF5 and Ben Folds shows I've been to, and much more rehearsed, but still a fantastic performance. I would have liked to see a bit more improv in the show. I guess they're touring heavily and can't exhaust themselves every other night.

The crowd was a bit loud and drunk, yes. I can only attribute that to the extremely strong drinks being poured at the bar and the completely lack of interest in the opening act, which resulted in an hour of heavy drinking in the lobby before Ben Folds Five appeared on stage. We had some dude in the front without a ticket who wouldn't leave the seat, so that caused some drama and interfered with the performance a little bit.

Huh. I didn't really notice too much drunkeness from where I was. But I could tell ben seemed a little annoyed.
And all that covering was a bit more on the on the spot than this tour has been. Shows great potential for 2013.
It was great to hear Thank You For Breaking My Heart. Those Harmonies. I tell ya....

I've seen Ben six times now, three shows in Michigan and three in Indiana. I would say that glove audiences are more mature and less bacchanal. Indy audiences yell at every quiet moment, even during quiet songs. Ben handled it well, but I wish they would let the guy talk.

Musically this was the best show I have seen with Ben. You could tell Sledge was having a lot of fun. All three members of the band have a distinct personality, and their harmonies sound great. Ben's voice was also really strong, and it sounds a lot younger than it did during the Way to Normal tours. I think he has been practicing a lot to maintain those high notes.

Look out kid,
they keep it all hid.

Sooo.... Is it kosher to post links to youtube vids on the board? I shot some pretty decent full length 720p/StereoAudio Video of the Indy show and I'm slowly getting it uploaded to "the tubes".  :)

Thanks for the uploads! I was hoping someone had recorded the jazz interlude in Narcolepsy.

Live "Thank You..." is just as gorgeous as the album track.  Glad they've started incorporating it into the set.
A one-hit wonder with no hits...

Hey, that's Oh-Ned-Er!
