What makes Ben special is his ability to craft each performance into something unique to that night, moments akin to live theater which make even the most familiar of performances seem fresh and new each evening. In the same city where I first caught him live all the way back in 1994, Ben Folds delivered a one-of-a-kind experience which will be very hard for him to top - until he comes back 'round the block.

I have to remember this when I explain to people why I see him so much. This describes everything perfectly. Thank you, Justin.
dont overplay, keep it simple and in the pocket, support the song, and you will be asked to play more than you have time to. - Chuck Folds

Glad to help provide an answer for a fellow concert-addict. Oddly, I'm gonna be sticking to local shows for a while. My days of traveling to Chicago and Oklahoma for gigs may be over. Special events like the reunion gig aside, Mr Folds and crew will have to settle for my smiling face in whatever city I'm living in when they tour.

Also, here's a review of the Lawrence show from the Kansas City Star - http://tinyurl.com/ygo8mtx

Big zipped file but well worth the time to obtain. Highlights off it IMO would be Morgan Davis and Dog. The silly tune 'girl' is amusing.

EMALINE?? GIRL?? SONG FOR THE DUMPED?? EVERY OTHER SONG ON THERE??
Wow. I'm fairly certain this is the most beautiful setlist I have every laid eyes upon.
I am so incredibly jealous of everyone who went to this show.
Life is "Oh my God, if I tell him, he'll tell her, and then she will know I like her!"

Do yourself a favor and download this one. It sounds absolutely wonderful, and not just "good for a bootleg" either. What a treat.

Wow havent been here much. That IS a great setlist, and an awesome bootleg. Listened to it on the way to and from the show in Madison last night.

Now that I read it I'm not so suprised about the photo shoot (kicking people in the face, peeing, etc), but it was still fun.

If Allison don't beat me to it (silly girl needs a mobile or laptop to take with her on her mini Ben-tours) I'll post my quasi-review of Madison tonight. ANd pics.

And video.

Of Sam on the cajon.

During Dog.

Oh yeah.

I've listened to this a number of times. My favorites keep changing....right now is Ben's version of 'Free Bird/Rock this Bitch' which includes the head scratching lyrics ...237 'off the table of' isotopes...'of which' uranium was still fissionable!'

After YDKM, Ben took pictures of Kate and her husband/guitarist interacting with the crowd. One was where the crowd was going crazy and acting like they're rock stars, one was us booing and flipping them off, and then Ben shot from behind while Kate poured a water bottle between her legs while flipping the crowd off so it looked like she pissed on stage. And her husband "kicked" someone in the front row's face.

yay, I was there. :) If any of you saw Where's Waldo... well he was right behind me.

GAH, I wish I went to the show in Lawrence!
