5/30/2009 - Kansas City, MO

This was my 5th time seeing Ben Folds and the best since Way To Normal came out. He seemed really loose and playful. He cracked a lot of jokes, had a lot of crowd banter, and even went out into the crowd once! It was definitely the most joking/friendly I've seen Ben. The set is still full of Way To Normal tracks and the staple tracks as well, but there were some gems thrown in there. Namely: Battle of Who Could Care Less and Boxing. Boxing was the highlight of the night for me. Ben said the band is cooling down and going to record their new album. I can't wait for it and I can't wait for them to be back. :)

It should be mentioned that Ben came down to the crowd upon seeing me in the second row and asked if there was a song I'd like played - then I asked him to play Kate for Vanessa, and he obliged! He even changed the words to add her name in!! What a spectacular birthday gift for her!

In the 13 years I've been attending Ben concerts, I'm telling you, if you missed tonight, you missed a hell of a show.

Great Concert.  Got 3 songs that I hadn't heard live before.

Heck yeah it was! Just LOOK at that setlist! Finally, something off the EPs resurfaces, a great solo set with two of my all time favorites off the self titled, and then you have those amazing renditions of Narcolepsy and RtS as the evening begins to wrap up. It simply does not get better. Well, that Steven's Last Night in Town drum solo in Tulsa was pretty badass...

It should be mentioned how Mr Reynolds slayed the audience in the second half of the set with his bass set to eleven. It must be the Run DMC hat.

I have to say, from everything I've heard from Alison and JP, amung other things, Ben seems really REALLY inspired as of late! It's really quite a beautiful thing to see.

Ben said the band is cooling down and going to record their new album. I can't wait for it and I can't wait for them to be back. :)

wait wait, what are you referring to here?
