Tour Covers...
« on: May 12, 2009, 08:03:37 AM »
so i was thinking about covers that ben could do on tour or something, i'd like to hear your guys suggestions and maybe hell he might even read it and like some.

here's the small list of mine that i think he could do

Die A Virgin (Divine Comedy)
Diva Lady (Divine Comedy)
My Doorbell (The White Stripes) [this is the one i really want to hear, he could do this so well]

I haven't really thought of any others, those are just the ones off the top of my head.

My Doorbell would be insane. I could just see him doing some rediculous solo in the middle of it with the drums and bass going crazy.

"James" or "Sleeping With The Television On" (Billy Joel)
"Generation Sex" (The Divine Comedy)
"Little Bird" (The Beach Boys)
"Maxwell's Silver Hammer" (The Beatles)
"Son of Sam" (Elliott Smith)
"Don't Stop Me Now" (Queen) ...I'd love to hear a Queen song performed by Ben

On the Radio - Regina Spektor.

That would sound pretty awesome.

I think Ben would do a good job at the blues. Maybe not sing it but play some really good blues piano. He can do rock variations of jazz, but Ben has proven to get really hands down soulful at times. So, maybe he could do something in that arena. I don't even know if Ben listens to the blues. I have always wanted to ask him. I also would ask him if he listens to Josh Ritter. There is some excellent piano in the latest album. I often think it would do Ben some good to befriend Josh Ritter and they could tour together. Like Rufus/Ben type deal. Man, that would be sweet.

I think Ben would sound good playing something like Ritter's "Mind's Eye" or "Rumors"

Paradise by the Dashboard Light - yes please!

How about:

Here Comes the Sun (Beatles)
Learn to Fly (Foo Fighters)
Stupid Girl (Garbage)
Black Fingernails Red Wine (Eskimo Joe)
59th Street Bridge Song (Simon and Garfunkel)

EDIT:  One more - Sweet Georgia Brown.

so far my favorites from the list have been:

My Door Bell (The White Stripes)
This Year (The Mountain Goats)
Don't Stop Me Now (Queen)
Fette's Vette (mc chris)*
On the Radio (Regina Spektor)
Paradise by the Dashboard Light (Meatloaf)
Here Comes the Sun (Beatles)

*: I think this one would be cool just for the rap factor, I mean ben can really throw down some fat rhymes it'd be cool to see him do this.

also i've been really dying for ben to do another jazz song again, like weather channel music. WCM was so bad ass, come on ben! show off your jazz chops more!
