Yes, it's a tenuous name link, but I've just joined the folding@home and wondered if anyone else was doing it?

Basically, it uses spare computer processing capacity on your machine to (do some sciency stuff) to help understand and eventually help cure/prevent diseases. The longer your PC is sitting idle, the more data it processes and the better it is for the boffins working on it.

Anyway, I've set up a theSuburbs team if anyone is interested. Just put 160139 in the team ID field.

And I'm very rarely @home, so I don't know how great of a teammate I am, lol.

I thought "folding" was a new term for being obsessed with Ben Folds, and this thread was about doing it at home.

these kind of things are great, but  being good and viruous green types, don't we all switch off our laptops and computers overnight?

Slight conflict which can only end in feelings of guilt!

I'm a big advocate of switching stuff off, and even switch my PC off at the wall when not in use. However, when my PC is on it spends a great deal of time just sitting there watching me type. I have Folding@home launch when my PC boots to ensure that any spare time it has (hey, we all need toilet breaks) is used.
