In purchasing the MP3 Lonely Avenue album from Amazon, a 12th track called Christian Life was tacked onto the end...the track shows the artist as Folds/Hornby, so I assume this also came from the collaboration?

Yeah, I downloaded it this morning.  It sure sounds like Hornby lyrics, but it's definitely a b-side (compared to the rest of the album)- the melody isn't all that memorable  Here are the lyrics:

Everyone sells stuff they don't believe in
Movie actors do it all the time
Guys with cases of useless health drinks
In politics they push statistics full of lies

Bill can see he's not the worst of the offenders
It's not like his job causes actual harm
he dispenses cake and kindness to old ladies
getting by with platitude and charm

It's just a job, it's just a job it's too late to change it
put in the hours, bring home the pay
watching sports on Sunday after the service
he no longer worries about judgment day

But he's sure there's no one else inside his workplace
if he were here he'd left some time ago
since Sundays Bill just waffles on and on about grace
avoiding the subject what's down below

It's just a job, it's just a job it's too late to change it
put in the hours, bring home the pay
watching sports on Sunday after the service
he no longer worries about judgment day

It's not like there was this one flash of insight,
no, "how come if there is a God we get Darfur?"
It was just a gradual dimming of that bright light,
the realization Christ works best as a metaphor

It's just a job, it's just a job it's too late to change it
put in the hours, bring home the pay
watching sports on Sunday after the service
he no longer worries about judgment day

It's kinda grown on me after a couple listens... probably the most different / off-beat of all the Foldsby songs, so I kinda like it for that, even if there is no real discernible catchy melody.

In listening to it a few times...

- The chorus doesn't really seem to be too well developed.
- The song reminds me a bit of 1980s Moody Blues.

I like this song and it's enjoyable to listen to but I can see why it's not a main track. The other songs are better.

Actually, I think this song fits better than "Levi Johnston's Blues."

The verses remind me of "Protection"

ive listened to this song over and over and i honeslty think its a brilliant song. does it belong as a b-side? probably, it doesnt jump out at you right away. but then again, neither does practical amanda (for me at least)
