I've been such a bad speller since I took the 3rd place trophy at the spelling bee in the fifth grade!

Armadillo!

not armidillo!!!

D'OH!!
It happens to the best of us.  And I would know, because I am the best of us.  And yet, in a spelling bee one year, final round, I got super-lucky and my final-round word was "warehouse"...and I f*cking spelled it "warehowse."
I was always out in the early stages of spelling bees.

When I type, I speak (not aloud) what I'm typing. I do the same while I'm texting, I think it's cause I've always been such a bad speller.

That's why I keep Mel around, she's my editor. That and she's a fun person to have conversations with, we get ridiculous from time to time, or almost daily..... And she calls shopping carts buggies. And that makes me lol.

maybe i'm just jaded myself on what i think ben's perspective is when he writes lyrics but i always adopted the idea of a sense of duality in his lyrics that may be atypical and throw off the general listener as they usually don't observe stuff in lyrics unless it's very coded idiosyncratic language, like just coded cult language they share with each other and laugh and giggle when they use their language to cuss someone out who doesn't understand it, and then it becomes interesting because it's coded klingon language about sex or drugs or masturbation like the whole deal with analyzing 80s music, and pretty soon they're talking about nena's 99 luftballoons being a metaphor for sex with a virgin or we hear that some van halen song is about sammy hager's penis for some reason--i just made these up i think--and i guess it does sort of happen with ben but hey it's the internet, i couldn't personally expect much of a difference

but he wrote stuff like not the same and it talked about using drugs, sure, but that could parallel a situation that didn't involve drugs or religion specifically and it was such outstanding flexibility in lyrics that i don't see enough of myself though i guess i can't complain too much if i can't do that myself

and who knows, i probably spoke too soon and he'll write a song about those three aforementioned things in a more pop manner

i still don't really have too much of a listening problem to [the new album] but my ears aren't so great anymore and thats probably what happens when you're next door neighbors with howitzers in iraq for about the rough equivalent of a year, give or take

i can understand why people would be a little thrown back by the static in free coffee but it doesn't really seriously turn me off any and it makes me think of chiptune music which i enjoy a lot, and it'd be neat if ben started doing video game music

i had been on both sides of the "that's not cool" comment but i end up seeing myself a few seconds later and wondering what changed me to be like that, but building blocks and legos are still great as the innerdork takes over, maybe it's just that now i'm older and the appreciation is inversely proportional to the time of death and one realizes how some things can be missed out on--

i think there's a story or song to this idea that i'm tapping into however

you should write a song about that, ben

you should, you should, you should, i smell an idea, the idea bulb is above my head and won't disappear

ps if you wrote something like that already then whoops but hey legos

pps i don't think jono11 is a legomaniac

grammar is my forte.  i get sick enjoyment out of editing papers.  not my fault, really.  runs in the family.
i may call shopping carts buggies, but at least i don't call water fountains bubblers.  that's a big wtf on your part.

anyway, thanks for posting, ben.  you're a real dear heart.  sorry i can't be of assistance in your quest for bat knowledge.  the only bat i know extensive information about is Batman.

thank goodness wikipedia is there for dubious information; 70% of bats are insectivores (? is that a real word) and only three species are into living on blood

Frog-eating bats identify edible from poisonous frogs by listening to the mating calls of male frogs. Frogs counter by hiding and using short, difficult-to-locate calls.

hey! at least Bubbler used to be the brand name for drinking fountains 'round here. If you continue to call a Puffs tissue a Kleenex I will continue on my bubbler ways. Long live the bubbler. they brainwascht (if i keep spelling it this way, maybe one day i'll finally get it right) us into calling them that from a small age. it's really a force of habit, four years in iowa couldn't even shake it. and now i'm back in bubblerville where i called it a drinking fountain and someone was like... wtf? the bubbler's around the corner. and my boss, who's from georgia just shook his head at us.

All I know about bats - except that they scare the hell out of me - is that they also like the roadhouse i used to work in. and they follow the screams. man. the one time i really girl out. that and bugs. hahahaha. i hate those f*ckers too. (notably the ones with more than 6 legs)

there is a really cute kids book about a bat - stellaluna, my youngest sister was obsessssseedddd (these things run in my family... my dad followed the greatful dead for two solid years..... i cannot escape my family either) with that book when it was brand new. we met the lady who wrote it at some book signing in town. </random shit>

a guy i worked with claimed he was deathly afraid of bats because he got attacked by them when he was a child, i think he was afraid of even watching batman though i don't see how he could get away with watching saw movies

hahaha.

re 2: i'm glad it's on youtube. you should have seen me with the centipede that was in my dishwasher earlier this week. i did kill a spider at work the other day. for some reason i could do that. one small step for my arachnophobia, one erm, giant leap backward for mel's amusement.

i've seen three bats in my life. one in my dorm room freshman year. one in my roadhouse senior year. and one on chripy's front porch (which divebombed me, and for real ended up in my hair --- though anything in a 12 mile radius probably was too) this past summer.

Didja know (this came out of no where) that you cannot attack/kill a bat?. It's punishable by law, cause they're a protected animal.

Lemme tell you, watching the guy from security try to escort the bat out of my dorm freshman year? hahahahaa, it was a total hoot. (OKAY, I've been watching too much boston legal, hoot just escaped into my vocabulary) it sucked tho cause it was in the middle of finals week and it was around 3 am, and i had just been working on memorizing the location of things in ancient israel on a map.

Hey, I call them buggies! What's wrong with that? What on earth do you call them?
My new philosophy is that a crappy tape deck somewhere plays a greatest hits collection of strange and tender moments, lost, stranded, and forgotten. I'll meet you there.
