Damn I can't believe I missed this.

The only reason was that Obama happened to be delivering his speach, and I'm not even going to vote for him. WHY!?

We've been planning something for Chapel Hill on Sept 18th that I'm told we have to wait a few more days to announce.  There will be those who shit.  I know I will.  Very excited but I gotta hold it in a few more days.  I've been maintaining my caps rule this time!

BEN FOLDS FIVE REUNION SHOW!!! I'm calling it right here, right now!!!

If that happens I'll be so angry. So far as I know I can't go right now, I'll have to clear my calendar and get a job to save up for these trips.

WHY NOT?
Though, this is not the place for that discussion at all.

Ben, promise me one thing, that whatever this massively awesome thing on the 18th in Chapel Hill will not be exclusively informed to only the people in the area by the Fan Club.
Cause really.
That'd blow.
Long, and hard.
Well. For it to be a bad thing, it'd probably have to be short and sloppy. Another thing not to discuss here.

Cause I'm a strict libertarian and his policies are to wonky for me ;D

I just had to say that.

Now in the last minute I've come to the decision I'm going to try my damndest to make it on that day.

He appeals to my socialist nature. And. He's really a very nice guy. I met him once. I focused a light for him once. (Which was a bitch of a one to do) and I worked security...  anyway. I really support his economic plan. Far more than McCain's anyway, and I'm pretty hardcore anti-war. So there's that one. And then there's the fact I feel like if you vote for anyone other than the two main parties you're throwing your vote away.

And if for some reason BF5 were to reunion-ize, I would, indeed, shit myself. And, it would explain Darren's lack of tour dates off of his beautiful, beautiful album... Have I mentioned it yet? :P

So are you voting for Bob Barr? He seems a little off to me. I don't agree with a lot of his policies. Obama, on the other hand, I saw when he rallied here in Eugene and I was just in awe. I know he's a bit of a 'rockstar' and all, but I don't see a problem with electing someone who people like...and who has a good plan (whether or not it'll get stuck to). If only I were old enough to vote.

Anywho, enough politics for me.
My new philosophy is that a crappy tape deck somewhere plays a greatest hits collection of strange and tender moments, lost, stranded, and forgotten. I'll meet you there.

Nope, If I do throw my vote away the man has to earn it, and the only person I've really seen who I really had total respect for would be Ron Paul.

Hopefully I'll make it to the september thing, if I don't I know I'll see something about it on here. Hell, it might even give something to talk about with Robert if I see him when I go Raleigh on Fall Break.

Which reminds me, did Robert teach Chuck to play bass or did Ben? This is really towards you, Allison, since you really the only person that knows them.

UH. No idea on who taught Chuck. Send him a message. Ask Mel. Besides that she and Chuck rarely talk about music. Maybe I'll send a message..... I did leave him a little note. Perhaps he will respond. Perhaps he will not. He's a very busy man that Chuck Folds. Chuck has been playing for a verrrrry long time. A VERRRY long time. I believe he was playing long before he even met Robert.

If you see Robert? WHAT? Like you happen to run into him?

Well I'm going there to just get away from Tennessee, and I'm going to look for him, maybe see if I could take a lesson from him or something. Also so it doesn't seem so weird that I'm going there, I have a friend who lives there. He owns a resturaunt there too, great food if anybody's interested.

Hopefully though, Sept. 18 will be a reunion.

Ask Mel. Besides that she and Chuck rarely talk about music.

that sounds bad...

i think we talked about music once, but it wasn't about his music.  it was about our favorite rap artists.   :)

Wow, this went OT quickly.

Yay Ben! Whatever happens in Chappel Hill, well I won't be there, but it sounds intriguing.

Production Values - I do like watching videos of BFF playing in suits. It seems all very civil compared to the rest of the gig. And the lighting on Army on the Freaking Out DVD is great. Well, it would be if it was in time :P But there's nothing better than excellent lighting at a gig (done by someone who knows the music) instead of just shoving a few parcans on and flashing them. I lit a music thing once, it was great fun.

But as someone else said, don't go too mad - we all love the intimate nature of the gigs.

(And for the record, Obama seems a bit like Blair, who may have been a lying idiot, but was quite good at at least making us happy, unlike Gordon Brown who just says "We're all doomed" and gives us no confidence in the country. I'd vote Obama. Plus he fits my political views, except when he's running off appealing to the middle ground.)

Yeah. I do miss that, I watched the Freaking Out DVD and was blown away by how much more quality the lighting was. I talked to Micheal about it once after a gig, and he says they can't afford it... mmmmhuuum.... you were saying Mr Praytor? I know that they get whoever the venue, mostly, supplies. There was one gig where the lights were flashing very, very fast, the entire gig. I want to say it was Duluth. Yes. It was, based on where I am seeing this in my memory. I think they were having a DMX feed issue, it WAS in a gym after all. It was probably very non-noticeable to anyone that was just looking at the band, but I always check out what the tech stuff is going on. What can I say?

Lighting concerts is a world more fun than lighting theater things for me, at least. I love it. I'm trying to make it a profession, but that's ridiculously hard. I'm on hold as "local available talent" at one of the big, and I mean, BIG touring lighting/sound rental places. I hope I'm not on hold too much longer, cause really, retail and freelancing won't make the ends meet. I do miss my board. I think I miss that most about college... my job. I sure don't miss the homework.

I would like to state how much I miss Andy right now. If I had his cell mobile number, I would have texted him long long ago. He is missing out on all the fun.

Here, Here on the subject of production values. I loved the freaking out dvd, why wasn't that released?

Oh but I do also really love how intimate the setting feels when ben plays.

Well, you can do intimate and large production in the same show, no problem. I've done it for the last three years. It just takes some key focal points and some choice gel, especially seeing as you're lighting a black piano which does not absorb light, really, at all. Let me tell you, lighting a black man standing in front of a black piano was one of the biggest tasks I've had.

Yea, I figured you could do both in the same setting. But as for lighting anything, I'm glad I don't have that job.
