Death Threat?
« on: February 26, 2008, 07:42:10 PM »
Um. Read this;

http://www.berry.edu/stulife/carrier/index.php/222

I'll quote the important part.

Quote
Later that afternoon, junior Alex Farrer reported finding the words “Ben Folds/Berry Students will die 3/29/08” on the second floor men’s restroom in the library.

If that was actually your plan would you really publicise it on a loo door?

Also, there is no way Ben is allowed to die before he tours Oz again.  I simply shall not permit it.
It's easy to be easy and free when it doesn't mean anything...

How lame.  I don't know why Ben's going there anyway, Berry is a private Christian college and they're pretty conservative.  Some people there are trying to change that but yeah.

I'm pretty sure they found the person who did it, but people do stuff like that on campus all the time and nothing ever happens, it's just that our campus is so small that it is actually talked about.

oh well thanks for the update. we wouldn't want ben dead (specially seeing as I have tickets to shows afterwards) and then we'd have to go through the posthumous releases like New Moon and From the Basement on the Hill by Elliott Smith. And that'd be sad.

I think with things like Virginia Tech and NIU schools can't take threats lightly...... we had a bomb threat every year in High School, and that wasn't a big deal, well it was, but it wasn't like we were scared of it.... until 9/11 and then the school got paranoid and most people didn't come to school those days that we were apparently going to die. I did every time. Gotta live life on the edge? Nah, normally you got extra credit for showing up those days.

extra credit doesn't really do you any good when you're dead though.   :P

we used to have bomb threats all through grade/middle/high school.  it was fun to evacuate for an hour or so.  it happened so often that it didn't even phase us.  we just assumed it was a kid trying to get out of taking a test.  *shrug*

the best one is Everyone Is Gonna Die April 12 and 13.

i actually freak out whenever i go into a concert because if something were to happen we would all be screwed because have you ever noticed how LONG it takes people to leave a venue. but i realized no one would want to hurt ben folds. he doesnt ask for or promote peace. duh.

yeah, but Jesusland and All U Can Eat could rile some people.

And, all venues have an evacuation plan. They have to have a fire escape route. It's just you can't leave through some of those places after a gig, if there's no reason to.

Some guys write some pretty messed up stuff on bathroom walls.  I don't think it's anything to worry about.

What I'm wondering is who in the world would hold enough animosity toward Ben to write that on a bathroom wall?  I mean, I can understand an extreme level of fandom, but Ben Folds just doesn't seem to be the type of person that should attract that much unfandom.  Heck, I'm surprise when people even recognize his name enough to say that they don't like him.

Then again, my first high school boyfriend often liked to say that he'd shot Ben Folds in the head if he ever saw him.  but that was mostly because of.....erm... some preoccupation that ended in a very wrong thing being said at a very inappropriate time.  Maybe the same thing happened to this guy.
