Ben to appear on GMTV next Wednesday
« on: January 16, 2007, 05:20:13 AM »
Sorry if this has already been mentioned - they said on GMTV this morning that Ben is going to be playing live on the show next week - Wednesday (24th Jan) I think. When he was over here in 2006 he played a solo version of Landed on GMTV.

Hmmmm... seems like he's doing some promotional work? It feels to me a bit too late for SSSG (though I could be wrong), but this, Rossy, etc.? It all seems a bit much for an album that came out in October... Maybe we'll see some new stuff?

Nah. He was churning out 'Landed' for months. My money is still on "Learn to Live..." on GMTV. Be interesting to see what they do on their 6 Music Hub sesh though...

Anyone see it? I totally forgot! Details of the performance would be much appreciated. Even better, if anyone can get the footage up here, fantastic!

Yep, he did learn to live.  Not sure who the drummer was.  Some guy with long dark hair, not the new new guy from the gig last night as he was on backing vocals with a woman who may have been Frally.

Not sure but I think he was miming.  Jared hadn't change his t-shirt since last night.  Maybe he's got a load that are all the same!

Wow, a woman on vocals and a random drummer. Interesting!

(Ooh, and he just said on  6Music that he was miming.)
So much time, so little to say...

I've got it on Sky+ waiting when i get home from work. Looking forward to seeing it later on. Can i assume that it was just him playing rather than an interview as well?

I hate seeing artists mime but they nearly always do on GMTV. I'd rather Ben didn't do it than mime. Last time on GMTV he did Landed solo and it was live - probably one of the only genuine live performances on GMTV (errrr not that I watch it evey day!). It was stunnung (if a bit croaky with it being first thing in the morning) I'm can't help thinking that Ben would hate miming too and there's no way it would have been his choice.

I thought the drummer was sam from the gig last night?! But then I was also making toast at the same time.

Yes he was miming. Apparantly he stopped singing at one point and the track carried on.

Plus he stood up from the piano at one point, completely stopped playing and sort of gestured to the camera  ;D

I might be wrong here but I think the drummer was one of Ben's roadies - a fantastic piece of not drumming in time with the track (watch the cymbals and listen for the sounds!!) ;-)

The whole thing was a big mickey take on miming if you ask me - inspired!! :-)
I just want to walk away......

Just got back and watched it - haha! excellent. A definite mickey take. Sam Smith (the new drummer) was the guy on backing vocals. Not seen the guy on drummer of lady before, though I'm sure they're on Ben's team.

GMTV is an awful show, and it was good to see them having some fun. I'm prepping an upload now (it's encoding as I type this!)

haha, thanks Andy! Ben looks really good in it. I love that shirt!
My new philosophy is that a crappy tape deck somewhere plays a greatest hits collection of strange and tender moments, lost, stranded, and forgotten. I'll meet you there.
