A couple things...
One: Robert Smith. It's Robert Sledge ("Robert Sledge on the Bass Guitar!!!!"). Robert Smith (and yes, you should know this if you don't already) is the vocalist and guitarist for the Cure (another kick-ass band). Robert Sledge is the bass guitarist of Ben Folds Five, International Orange, etc. Very, very critical mistake you made, though I'm sure it was simply a slip of the tongue, or the fingers as it may be.
Two: Robert Sledge all the way. Jared's great, and I have nothing but good things to say about him as a person and musician, but I can't take Jared over Robert. I may at times take solo Ben over the Ben of the Five, but I have a real hard time saying I like either Jared or Lindsay better than Robert or Darren, respectively. It's all opinion, though, and I'm sure that my opinion isn't the same as everyone else's around this board.
P.S. You might want to edit your poll whenever you get the chance.

Robert L. Smith I believe did something like record/produce/mix the Old Ceremony's album.
Robert Sledge, however, did something like record/produce/mix one of Django Haskins' albums. Plus, he was in International Orange. I've really started to feel for Robert lately - I realised that the five obviously meant a lot to him and he didn't take the break up very well (put on a bit of weight). I think Jared rocks the shit on the bass, but I'm gonna go with Robert because he was there first. I think Jared and Lindsay will always be second to Robert and Darren, based on the fact that they weren't there at the beginning. They know and accept this which is why they have other projects going on at the same time and don't make a fuss about playing under the name "Ben Folds" rather than "Ben Folds Five" (at least "Ben Folds Five" implied there were more people than just Ben). Also, playing under the alias of "Ben Folds" probably makes them feel disposable (without them, he can still be Ben Folds) so there's not as much arsing about onstage between them and Ben, because if they piss him off, he could quite easily replace them (I don't think Ben would actually do that, but he has the ability to do so and they know it).
I *think* that made sense.

Er, and there's only one "R" in Jared. I had to vote for "Jarred" simply because Robert Smith is from another band entirely.

I voted Robert Smith as I have no idea who Jarred is and if that's the Robert Smith who produced The Old Ceremony record, that's cool. Also, if it's the other Robert Smith, he was on South Park. Also cool.

My new philosophy is that a crappy tape deck somewhere plays a greatest hits collection of strange and tender moments, lost, stranded, and forgotten. I'll meet you there.
