piano on the beginnings

does anyone know what piano ben used on the beginngs. im aware that it is not an album and that the recordings were sone and differnet times but the piano used sounds very honky tonkish. does anyone know what sort of piano ben was using at that time?

I don't know for sure, but I would guess that it would be the old upright he recorded Brick with.  I'm pretty sure he's had that one a long time.  He used it on the SNL performance too.

he used different pianos for different songs. You can tell by the timbre of the piano, the brighter and more defined one is the grand.  Have you checked out the ongoing Beginnings Remaster project? http://Remastered.benfoldsfive.net

I also remastered the 1990 Demos, and they sound like a CD.
