Sad News for the UK
« on: March 31, 2002, 06:51:20 PM »
Regarding Andy's post on the News page, I'm the one who delivered the bad news that Ben doesn't plan to tour the UK anytime soon.  However, I'm not sure that Ben said specifically that HE was unhappy with the album sales in the UK... that may have been a misunderstanding or unclear communication on my part.  I guess that's what it comes down to, but he certainly didnt' indicate that it was his decision.  I can't remember exactly how he phrased it, but maybe Greyseal can?

Anyway, in light of recent announcements, I certainly wish I had just kept the news to myself.  :-X

This is from an article in Time Out (Australia):

Folds plans to keep touring in 2002, although not Europe, where he feels the label have failed to work the album.

"I'm a little dodgy about Europe right now. Unless they start selling records, I'm not all that interested in going over there, which is a really terrible thing to say, but I've worked so hard and have a really excellent following there. Like the last time I played England, I played the Royal Albert Hall and we sold that place out in no time at all, but we weren't selling records.

"But in Australia, America and Japan, it's kind of exciting. We're just bouncing back and forth as fast as we can between those places. I'm just happy to tour where we’re appreciated."

To quote Andy, "So, if you want Ben, you'd better get out to the shops."  :(

yeah. nine hundred tshirts should just about do it. providing you people can house us and feed us whilst we're actually there.
seriously... well, a trip to the US has been vaguely pondered. It all depends on how much money can be earned in how much time.
If it wasn't for time, everything would happen at once.

Yeah, I'm buying a hoodie AND a t-shirt tomorrow.  When I get my money.

Better yet, read the "Help Us" page on the new site ;)  I did and you can too!
