I think its a little different to quit a lovely wife and two little twins than quitting a band... They all look so happy on the inside cover of "Ben Folds Live." Tis heartwarming.

Well, hang on a second. I read that whole article way back when it frist came out right around the time "Brick" was peaking. He was talking about when the band was still pretty newly-formed, not when they got into the swing of things and really hit their stride. Things had to be formulated a little differently apparently b/c of the piano-aspect of the band, and that (from what I understand) took a lot of time, and was one of the frustrating things about developing the band. He didn't that quote after after they were broken up, so, in THAT light, 'hey_kate', I'd say maybe that'll make you HAPPY! B/c he stuck with it, which is what he went on to say, but the book didn't quote him that far.

I was aware of that... I thought she thought it was sad because he said it was the only thing he never quit, and then eventually he quit it. He did stick with it, but he eventually quit. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I thought he didn't quit the band, I thought the band broke up, that they were all happy to stop, that's why this whole thread is confusing me a little, hehe...seems like if you look at it that way, 'quitting' doesn't come into the picture. so, for me, it's not a sad or unhappy thing...I think...is what I'm saying....ok, yeah.

Well Kenny I've made my feelings known that I think it was a wise step, at least in retrospect, so I won't disagree with you. You are correct that the band broke up as opposed to quitting... I was thinking of quitting in loose terms. I mean, if your your wife insists on a divorce you can't really say you "quit" the marriage... but maybe you gave up on it somewhere along the way? Not the best analogy, but my point is that even though the break up was mutual there is a gray area somewhere in there that allows one to say that if Ben once said BFF was the only thing he never quit, he has now quit that too.
Of course, as I said before, I can see it both ways... BFF was not a failure by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm get the feeling that the BFF are gone for good. "those who say the past is not dead, stop and smell the smoke". On the same kinda topic though can anyone tell me if Darren's new band or Robert's new band are any good or not? I get the feeling they'd be a little different from the Five stuff.

I just hope that ben doesn't quit making music period any time soon. And Rasputin, I talked to this guy at the lottapianos concert i went to ( !) about darren's band, he said he'd seen them but they were just starting out and "nothing to get excited about"...but he'd had a few drinks, and it had been awhile, so who knows?
