Chopsticks

Ben played a Liz Phair cover at the Ann Arbor show called "Chopsticks."

The funny thing is, Greyseal gave me a version of this from a BFF show, but we didn't know what it was or where it came from.  I thought it was hilarious... but I thought Ben was making it up as he went along.

The lyrics are below; I'm sure you can see why I found it amusing when Ben sang them:

I met him at a party and he
Told me how to drive him home.
He said he liked to do it backwards.
I said that's just fine with me.
That way we can f*ck and watch TV.

It was four a.m. and the light was gray
Like it always is in paperbacks.
He asked if I liked playing jacks.
I told him that I was good to sixes,
But all hell broke loose after that.

I told him that I knew Julia Roberts
When I was twelve at summer camp.
We didn't say anything after that.
I dropped him off and I drove on home
'Cause secretly, I'm timid.

this cover premiered at the tremont music hall in march of 1996!

(this is random bff trivia that floats around in my head. this scares my friends. it would almost make for a fun party trick! except my friends don't like ben folds five.)

love,
