stars, stars everywhere, and not a drop to drink!
« on: January 10, 2002, 02:18:25 PM »
Word on the street (so to speak) was that there used to be a thread to celebrate the "full member" status.  I heard you were supposed to tell some sort of tale in it, but sadly, not only am I unaware what sort of yarn I'm supposed to weave, I am so sapped of creativity that I fear whatever I come up with won't be up to the standard set by past posters <g>.

I *could* post a couple of Ben-headline "in bed" combos, since that has been my main source of entertainment for the last two days.  And the extent of my present creative capacity :)  Then again, that MIGHT be deemed in poor taste.

So, with no futher adieu, I'll just click the damn "post" button.  I hope I didn't misread my post count!

you didn't misread your post count. the reason you didn't get your third star at 100 though is because you didn't get it till 101.

the wish upon a star thread was a beloved thread started by the inimitable TIB whose first post on the thread was his 51st which gave him 2 stars.  it was a grand tale of cosmic what goes around comes around involving salsa and beer if I recall correctly.

we were all to post on that thread each time we made the next jump up...51, 101, 251 and 501 (I think). lots of people did. my Heaven Can Wait/Luckiest story first appeared on that thread. TIB basically closed it out though with his post for the 101st as we all determined that we could never outdo his creative exploits (though I don't remember all the details of that particular post).

anyway, maybe you started the tradition back and you'll post again at 251. sorry to all if the history lesson bored.

I think our new goddess of media needs something added to her title in honour of the quickest rise to full member status in the history of the boards...

Hey grey... I was just wondering... if you didn't exercise in space, how long would it be before you were just a head?

*spastic fits of laughter*

I suppose I have no place on this thread, seeing that I have been upgraded to "a whole lot" status.  I LOVE being free from the numbers, but I miss telling random stories that in no way lived up to TIB's.  Speaking of TIB, I think he owes us an update on how things went with that honesty approach.  What's that? It's too personal? Things must be going WELL, I'd say...  ;)

I think the definitive (if not too detailed) answer is buried in my Slam Book post.

Sooo...been to Disneyland yet?  ;)

JBJ!  TIB!  GREY!  What's with all of the "inside" jokes I don't know about?  I feel completely left out.  Whatever.  TIB, I've been meaning to PM you to check on yourn "girl status."  I think JBJ and I deserve a juicy and detailed explanation of what's going on!  And ditto on the "whole lot" thing, JBJ.  I wonder how many posts we actually have by now.  I'm OCD about numbers and counting and it bothers me that I don't know my numerical status.  Quite bothersome.

Oh, I am also somewhat bothered by not knowing my actual number of posts... but I've decided that I was MORE bothered by seeing it constantly rise... and the number wasn't something I was proud of for some reason.  So for me, it's better this way.  :)

As for inside jokes... Well, I was just giggling over Greyseal's new quote (on the left of her post).  For some reason we both found that line particularly funny, conjuring up various images of "just a head."  For me it's a Ben head... a bodyless head (that just makes me laugh even more)... for Grey it's that thing from Peewee's Playhouse... the name is slipping my mind.

As for TIB, I don't know what he's referring to... but I'm pretty sure he's trying to remind me that if I want to embarrass him, he has a supply of ammunition as well.  :P  No, I haven't been to Disneyland yet... all in good time.

Go to the top 15 posters list and scroll right to see your colored bar. Take ruler or some other form of measuring and place against colored bar of some known number. Extrapolate. Last I looked, I'm guessing you and JBJ are about 100-140 ahead of me.

oh yes, just my new quote to accompany posts, no jokes i won't include all in.

whenever i listen to "your most valuable possession" i giggle when ben's dad says that line.  i always picture "jambi" from the box on pee-wee's playhouse.  you know the green headed, mecca-lecca-hi-mecca-heiny-ho guy <g>

i'm sure you all think the same thing.  right?

no?

oh, ok.

Fastest ever to rise to full member status in the history of the boards?  Faster than me?  Hmm, maybe so, because, in the beginning, things weren't as talkative.  Still, though, I'm not sure.  But, obviously, this pleasantry is all just a cover for my JEALOUS RAGE.  SHEER, ENVIOUS RAGE!!!!!!!!!

Of course, I'm just kidding...

heh...

I'm with Kenny.  Andy says I was posting to empty boards, but I swear Kenny had two or three hundred already by the time I showed up.  :D

ROFL

I stand my my original theory - it took greyseal about half as long to reach full member status than any of us. of course she had the advantage that there were plenty of people to talk to and things to talk about.
If it wasn't for time, everything would happen at once.
