The first thing that sprung to mind was "Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin". http://www.myspace.com/boris

They're very 'Pavement'.

I have more, but I must run. I'll have a think. You'd probably really love my radio show.

they have a song called "oregon girl", and i live in oregon, so its fun to hear. great band as well.
My new philosophy is that a crappy tape deck somewhere plays a greatest hits collection of strange and tender moments, lost, stranded, and forgotten. I'll meet you there.

Some of those bands are widely known... I mean, The Magic Numbers... Anyroad, lots of good stuff. I want to do some:

- The Old Ceremony (if I don't see them before I die, I will be very very sad)
- Snuzz (just an awesome dude)
- Roman Candle (saw them last night in London, freakin' amazing. They ended their main set with Skip, the lead singer, yelling "THAT'S ALEX!" and pointing at me. Me and his brother Logan, who is the band's drummer, had been hanging out before the show and they know me off of myspace... really awesome)
- The Last Town Chorus (again, Megan is very nice and acknowledges me when I see her)
- Richard Burke (very talented local musician who crafts songs like Elliott and Sufjan... Seeing him tomorrow, supporting Guillemots)
- Luke Leighfield (Folds-inspired piano rock. Currently touring the sitting rooms of England)
- Emmy the Great (I haven't seen her live yet and she doesn't have much out, but what she does have is excellent. Did a lovely rendition of "Christmas in Prison" for a charity album)

Those aren't all, but those are all I can be arsed to do right now.

well, The Magic Numbers aren't known virtually at all in the US.  so, i thought i'd throw them out there.

and it is my belief that everybody should listen to Snuzz.

The Magic Numbers are pretty huge over here. So huge that the emo kids actually know who they're talking about when they make a disgusted face if you mention them, rather than just pretending to be "cool".

That's funny. I make a disgusted face when I hear them.

Only kidding. But no; I would differ from your list on that one Melissa. They're nothing special in my book.

I like them, but there are loads of bands I like more. I thought about going to see them, but decided not to for financial reasons, whereas, if I was skint and Ben, The Flaming Lips or Guillemots were touring, I would sell my kidney to finance such an occasion.
