"Now that I've Got the Disease..."
« on: September 23, 2005, 11:05:01 AM »
"In a way I'm relieved, cuz I dont have to stress about it like you do"

These honestly are my favorite lyrics to a BFolds song. They mean alot in the sense of once you're done with something you dont have to worry anymore. It works perfectly, anyone else agree?

Anyways, not really much of a topic but oh well, I had to get it out there.

the title of the song says enough...."There's Always Someone Cooler Than You"

and you're right, the lyrics are great!
My new philosophy is that a crappy tape deck somewhere plays a greatest hits collection of strange and tender moments, lost, stranded, and forgotten. I'll meet you there.

Lyrically, I completely dig the whole Sentimental Guy. It's a subtle point, but so poetically described.

"People talking
And I'm watching
As flashes of their faces go black and white
And fade to yellow
In a box in an attic"

Bellisimmo.

There's Always someone cooler than you is definitely in my top five Ben songs. You have to relate to the lyrics. And it always amazes me how Ben can pull off that kind of song without sounding arrogant. OAD being another example. of course...
Back and forth... forever ))<>((

My favourite favourite favourite line is

I feel like a quote out of context, witholding the rest, so I can be for you what you want to see.
Blind man on a canyon's edge of a panoramic scene...

I don't think anything I've heard can beat the lines
"And life barrels on like a runaway train
Where the passengers change
They don't change anything
You get off; someone else can get on"

EVER.
I'm your Venus, I'm your fire, your desire

I gotta agree.  When I first heard Sentimental Guy, I was unimpressed by the simple piano stuff going on, but when paying attention to the lyrics on later listenings, I fell in love.

EDIT: Also, Cooler Than You is just plain awesome in so many ways.
Alice, the world is full
Of ugly things that you can't change
Pretend it's not that way
It's my idea of faith.
