Editorial Reviews
ImAVeePee Records/Sony Music is proud to release Ben Folds Five Live, the first live album from piano-pop trio Ben Folds Five. Recorded in 2012 on their first tour in more than a decade, this new set - available on CD and double-vinyl - will be the perfect prelude to the band's spot on the Last Summer on Earth Tour, which will see Ben Folds Five filling amphitheaters across America alongside Barenaked Ladies and Guster.

For longtime fans of Ben Folds' biting, piano-based power-pop songs, the past two years have been full of excitement. In 2011, Folds reunited with bassist Robert Sledge and drummer Darren Jessee to record the first new Ben Folds Five songs since 1999 for the career-spanning compilation The Best Imitation Of Myself: A Retrospective. Inspired by the collaborative spark after so many years apart, the trio reconvened in Folds' Nashville studio to record their fourth studio album, The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind. The album was an immediate hit, peaking within Billboard's Top 10 - the band's highest-charting release.

Ben Folds Five consistently thrills audiences with their high energy performances, and Ben Folds Five Live captures the band in top form across four continents through 2012 and 2013. The band deliver powerful renditions of their most beloved classics like "Jackson Cannery," "Brick" and "Song For The Dumped" as well as new hits from The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind, including "Do It Anyway," "Draw A Crowd" and "Sky High."

Ben Folds Five will be on a Japanese TV show "Best Hit USA" on BS-ASAHI, next Tuesday, April 23, at 11:00 p.m.
http://www.bs-asahi.co.jp/usa/

When BF5 played at Nagoya Club Quattro back in February, Darren wore a T-shirt that said "Best Hit USA" on the front. According to the show's website, they had an interview...and also had a music quiz. I guess Darren won the quiz and got a T-shirt Smiley

The last line of the press release says : "Additional info and dates on the "Last Summer On Earth" tour will be announced in the coming weeks. ", and according to Ben's interview in a Japanese magazine, BF5 will tour "until the end of the summer."  Wink

Ben also says in the interview that he will be "absent from BF5 after the summer tour". He is currently writing a piano concerto in only 3 months. The concerto is a joint commission of the Nashville Ballet, the Nashville Symphony and the Minnesota Orchestra. And he have to prepare for the symphony tour in 2014.

And, BF5 will be back in the studio in 2014 during Ben's symphony tour.

Makiko, any idea who the guy all the way on the left is?
haha, "the guy" is Leo. He sure looks different in this picture.

Tell us more about the original recording of Michael Praytor....
I think it was the live recording of "Rock this B*tch". The lyrics and melody were totally different, but it was the origin of "Michael Praytor, Five Years Later". I hope they will play it again on their summer tour!
