Well a belated thank you to all of you!! So sweet of you to remember, Andy.  Is there some tool that I am unaware of that allows one to record important dates such as birthdays? I will have to look into it.

Greyseal talked to Joe at a recent concert, and he said Ben would not be making it to the west coast for this college tour, but he would most likely be here for the guster/rufus/ben tour.  So we'll have to wait until this summer, but at least he's on the way!

Tagg, I have that quote on an mp3 somewhere, I think.  If I'm thinking of the right thing, it's from when he played bits of rockstar, all you can eat, and the yet-to-surface "aint got no words" last spring.  Something about interchanging parts or switching parts.  I'll listen & post it, but right now a movie is taking precedence.   :)

While e-mailing customer support is useless, calling them is not.  (They now have a 1-800 number.  Check your confirmation e-mail.)  I originally put the wrong shipping zip code when I ordered Sunny 16, but I called the next day.  They answered right away, asked me which CD it was for, transferred me, and fixed the zip.  I got my EP 3 days after it was released.

I know that's not ideal for those of you overseas, but it's something.

Thanks Andy! I heard "Nerds go wild," too.

As for any suggestions, I don't think there is a here, here:

Yeah, you're the sh*t but you won't be here for long

Thanks, I always appreciate it when people take the time to post lyrics.

This is what I hear....

Cause baby, the truth is you need their approval,
to They tell you you're cool. Hey, but look how you paid pay for it.

So, your time is in crumbs [?? could be crumbs or crunch] now,
your remains just dumped out. Your image is dumbed down
You're full of it now,
at What about when it runs out.

I love it.  Anyone surprised? Ok, didn't think so.

Now, let's see... my thoughts are all jumbled, so I have no idea what I'm going to say, only that I'll probably go on a while...

I find myself thinking that some these songs seem more personal and introspective than anything we've heard from Ben in a while.  Then, as I'm typing that, I'm coming up with all the reasons that is not true... Ben's music has always been somewhat personal.  Perhaps what is standing out for me is that the themes of these personal songs seem to be different.

People said it about RTS, but it's even more obvious now... Ben is growing up.  His lyrics are coming from a different perspective, and I like it.

The piano is fabulous, and--don't quote me on this--better than anything on RTS.

I feel like in hearing this, we're getting a glimpse of what we can expect from Ben.  The only thing NEW on Speed Graphic was Judy.  Everything else was a cover or an old song, so I guess that's why this EP has a very different feel.  It will be interesting to see if the next is similar to this or once again, totally different.

Cooler Than You: Fun, livens up the EP, not his best stuff but no complaints

Learn to Live: Very, very pretty. Gives me a lot to think about, and I always like that.  I love the piano at the end.

Rockstar: Current favorite on the EP, also the one I most looked forward to.  I love everything about it.  I would have liked to hear it with the crowd background vocals, though.  I definitely put this as one of the three on the album.

All You Can Eat: Great piano, awesome lyrics though they don't always flow as well as Ben's tend to do.  I hope this is as political as he gets.

Songs of Love: Very, very pretty.  Definitely a nice addition to the ben catalogue.  Will have to listen to DC's version to compare.

Initially I enjoyed listening to this song, but it took a backseat to the others until I could really, really, really listen to Rockstar and LTLWWYA (title... too long... flu ridden fingers can't bear to type it) several times.  I liked it but kind of thought of it as 'EP material.'  But I was *just* listening to it, and it was definitely uplifting my spirits.

I think the song is fun.
I like what it has to say.
Definitely a picker upper.
I could do without "nerds go wild!"
I bet it will be fun live.
But yesterday I loved the pretty ones more.
Time will tell how I really feel.

I like Em's comment about the One Angry Dwarf guy -- haha.  I was thinking upon my first or second listen that this could be taken (not sayin it was intended, just thinking) as another, more sincere response to Korn's comments about BFF.

~JBJ, who still loves all the songs like children

Nobody knows for sure!

Here's my summary of the whole Bens tour thing in the News section at (plug, plug)

Unofficial Tour Info & Rumors (may never happen):
A 9/17/03 MTV article said a US tour for The Bens is being discussed. Other sources who shall remain nameless lead me to believe this is more than discussion. Frank Maynard, listowner of the Magical Armchair Digest said there are no plans for a US tour. A 5/1/03 article said they would tour the US in the summer (which has already passed). In a 1/9/03 Newsweek article, Ben said The Bens (Folds, Lee, Kweller) may come to "the States" also. This was repeated on 3/17/03 on The Basement. Another article suggested they may play festivals in the UK.

Obviously, there is always discussion.  Plans are another thing entirely.  Still, I heard a rumor, completely separate from this MTV thing, that there were possible plans.  If I was a betting girl (which I'm not), I'd put some money on at least a few dates early next year.  But. That. Is. Not. Official.

It's all been rather disappointing, because dear Leia called me after this MTV thing, and I'm not sure if it's what she heard or what she said or just what I heard in my recently waken state... but I thought there was a definite tour starting December 30th.  I'm happy about the EP, but I'm mourning the loss of the tour I thought was announced.
