News / Re: Mysterious New Songs?

I'm surprised that the general consensus seems to think that this version of "Cologne" is going to be the album version.  I think it's right up there with this version of "The Frown Song" in terms of likelihood that it will make the album in this form.  Especially the ridiculous reference to Lisa Nowak's diapers!

Honestly, I think the only 2 songs from the leak that are in an ALMOST finished state are "Hiroshima" and "You Don't Know Me," and I think they will both see some further tweaking as well.  (The end of Hiroshima seems like it will probably get cut, and the f-bomb in YDKM seems kind of out of place, even for Ben).

Also, I've taken the time now to listen to all of the tracks on a good sound system, and the only songs that sound even remotely professionally recorded are those two I mentioned.  The other 7 songs were definitely done with some kind of "demo" recording setup, and often the piano itself is miked very poorly.  There's no way that a major label would release recordings in such a crummy state unless it was some kind of special project or live performance release.  Granted, all of the tracks sound unmastered, but DENNIS HERRING WOULD NOT ATTACH HIS NAME TO SUCH POOR PRODUCTION!

I'm pretty sure the people who helped record the video for Cologne said it was the exact same version they heard. That's why it is a consensus.

It just occurred to me that Kylie would be the most kick-ass orchestral song ever.

I think Spain will win for sure. I don't see Germany beating them without Ballack.

"My personal favorite songs on the album include "Your Number or Your Name", a lament song in memory of his ex-wife, "Oh Tara", about his sixth wife, "Maybe Tonight", about Folds finally losing his virginity at the age of 43, "That's What the Little Girls Do", a rather uncomfortable but catchy piece about his strange attraction to his own daughter, and the riproaring closer "Frustrated"."

I hope you were being sarcastic about the reviews being legit...
Does someone really have this much time on their hands??

haha. Yeah I held it for the rest of the concert, didn't even put it in my pocket. Plus its a NC quarter, so I thought it was even cooler.

Very cool - where were you sitting? In the center, or just to the right? If it was in the center, you were directly in front of me and your head kept blocking Sam :)

When the family came up front, the guy at the end of our row almost decked the security guard - he kept yelling at the guard to "leave them the f*ck alone." I thought all hell would break loose. The funniest part was that it was during Zak and Sara, and it seemed like the whole place yelled "f*cking assh*le" to the guards. I laughed much.

haha. yeah I was in the center, so that would by my melon blocking your view of Jared. sorry.
I saw the guy at the end of your row yelling at the security guard, that was pretty funny, I also heard a bunch of collective boos.
And everyone on stage, and in the audience sort of turned towards the security guards during the "assh*le" parts. That song was also perfect bc Ben pointed to the dancing dad as he sang "that makes it possible for all white boys to dance."

what a great concert.

Well, I went to the concert but I didn't right down the setlist. It was pretty standard, no real big surprises as far as songs go.
It was actually kind of short I think, bc he didn't do a solo set midway through like he's been doing  :-[
The crowd really didn't get in to it untill three quarters of the way through, when a whole family went to the front of the stage and started dancing during Zak and Sara (everyone was sitting). Ben and Jared were pretty amused, and a security guard kept telling the dad to go back and sit down. Eventually, the security guard got them back into their seats, but Ben called them on stage and they danced for the rest of the song. I'm pretty sure the security guards were pissed at Ben after that. It was truly hilarious, and everyone in the reserved section stood for the rest of the concert. After this little episode, everything was much more energized, and I wish the whole concert would have been like that.

The RTB where he was mocking the drunk guy was awesome! And as he was writhing around on stage, a buch of change fell out of his pocket. When he got up, he tossed me one of the quarters. Luckiest quarter ever...

Overall great show though, Ben really seemed in high spirits, and I think he was glad to be back in NC.

Me and my sister ran down after the concert to where we thought he would leave. There was only four of us total waiting, but Ben didn't stop for us when he rode by in a white, construction looking van. I was kind of mad, all I wanted was an autograph, and there was only four of us.

I didn't much care for "Whatever and Ever Amen" until I got to "Brick". It took me a few listens to really get into. The self-titled was more of an instant process.

I agree. Plus, I just have a well-known inclination toward self-titled. Don't know why, I just love it above all the rest. Right now at least. It's subject to change.

How is it that we both love the self-titled, but don't know why??
