Tour Board / Re: Jacksonville, FL Set List - April 22, 2016
« on: May 05, 2016, 07:35:56 PM »
This is what I get for assuming everyone follows us on Facebook (I'm so much better at keeping that updated than this)

Itís everything we are playing on tour, yeah, the best of what weíve played on this tour. Some of it is this album, but a lot of it is older stuff and all kind of stuff. It was six months of touring or something like that and weíve gone through it all now so you can imagine I donít want my kids having to listen to the same song over and over again. ďOh, that one messed up! Oh, messed up there too.Ē Weíve almost got it together. Itís going to be a 10-inch record. Itís just a fun record to put together. Those are harder though because there is a lot of stuff that can go on it. Sonically it sounds pretty damn good.  NOV.

I think it's linked to the live album they're planning for November. Probably an attempt to get the best cuts.

No, but an email/text would be a first, and I'd probably be dead. :P And it hasn't surfaced anywhere. I'm sort of grateful. Perhaps tomorrow I'll do a TBT for it and poke him for it.

Theories on which song?

Now that we know Regina and Ben are on the same track - and there's no rapping, it's got to be an Eliza song

Met Ben after this gig. Only 5 of us were waiting after the show behind the gate. They all piled into a 16 passenger van. Made it to the end of the alley way and turned around.  ;D ;D  Got to talk a long while.  ;D ;D ;D then Ben asks me if we want to take our annual selfie (What? Plus, if you know me on social media, I'm like 0 selfies girl) so sure I guess and I pass my phone off to the couple I had befriended while waiting. NO. That Ben Folds we know and love takes the damn selfie on his phone? I tried not to die. I suppose I didn't. Here's the photo of the photo from my phone. Also after all this time look at how much space I am giving him.

WELP. I am known to like a personal bubble.

5. Effington
6. I'm Not the Man

Prince's death yesterday reminded me that there may have been a thread on this topic here from years ago.  Make that YEARS AGO.

While his 1984 show may no longer make my top 5, it's still easily top 10.

As I was reflecting on his passing, I realized that in a 6 week window in the fall of 1984, I saw Prince at the height of the Purple Rain era and Springsteen at the height of the Born in the USA madness.  In retrospect, that was a pretty good fall.

I was wondering why this resurfaced or if it was because of:

That being said I keep a top 10 list on my fb profile so one quick copy and paste....

Top 10 Shows of my life are probably;
2008.09.18 - Ben Folds Five in Chapel Hill, NC
2011.11.18 - The Avett Brothers in Milwaukee, WI
2015.05.15 - Ben Folds and yMusic in Chicago, IL
2016.03.05 - Jason Isbell in St Augustine, FL
2008.08.14 - Bon Iver in Milwaukee, WI
2015.02.13 - Kevin Devine in Orlando, FL
2012.06.08 - Jukebox the Ghost at Bonnaroo in Manchester, TN
2012.06.15 - The Old Ceremony in Chicago, IL
2012.03.07 - The Avett Brothers in Iowa City, IA
2010.10.10 - Sufjan Stevens in Chicago, IL
2012.08.22 - Dawes in Madison, WI

Ben seems to be decently good friends with Ringo.

Appears on Ringo's Lifetime of Peace and Love tribute playing Oh My My

I'll be at all three Florida shows. I will be slumming it in the nosebleeds cause the VIP pricing is just too much for my budget, and all three FL shows are assigned seating. (But that does mean I can work in the morning each day cause they're of course all during the work week)

Technically even SOTLOTM was a P&D deal with Sony.

That and Sony has removed Ben from the list on Sony's site.

"Ben Folds has announced the release of his landmark new album, So There. Hitting stores on September 11, the album is the multi-platinum selling singer/songwriter/producerís first for his new label New West Records, and showcases eight new pop songs recorded and arranged in collaboration with yMusic "

I know this is a month old post. Which means I haven't been on in a month. (Sorry! New job, new city, new state, etc, etc, 1,200 miles and shit)

This may be related to the fact that Ben's not on Sony anymore. So much of that late show performances and stuff is all circle jerk between the tv station and the label. I mean, take a look at who's on Fallon - which is owned by NBC - which is Universal - which is the largest label in the US. It's like 90% of their own artists.....

Album Board / Re: Another Ben Folds song makes it into a commercial

Saw this commercial during one of the football games today, and Cologne (or Before, if you're on WTN) has been stuck in my head the whole rest of the day.

Is it just me that I think it's weird that it's in a car commercial because I instantly go to thinking about Lisa Nowak?
