I like most of the rest of the album though.

I agree with AirHockeyChamp, this song is boring. It's just extremely bland and musically uninteresting. The lyrics are fine but without good music, good lyrics do nothing for me.

At the risk of sounding like a music theory elitist here, neither minor IV chords or double flats are "written to confuse". A minor IV is, for example, an F minor chord when you're in the key of C. I think you are confusing that with a flat IV. And double flats are totally necessary sometimes when you need to keep a note consistent with the key it's in.... every (major/minor) scale needs to have every note from C to C represented with some or no accidentals to really "make sense", which is why the G scale isn't written G A B C D E Gb G, for example ... and some keys need double flats or double sharps to make this work.

Just for the purposes of edification, the D chord in the chorus that people were having trouble naming is a D7#9. However, that #9 (which is the juiciest, awesomest part of the chord) seems to be missing from the album version, which really sucks :(

Did you seriously just say major 7ths sound bad? They are some of the best chords out there. Any band that makes decent use of them earns a billion cool points in my book... in fact, bands that never use them almost never elicit multiple listens from me. They are a major part of Folds' appeal. Of course, they have to be used "correctly", but that's true of every chord.

Kyle, I definitely heard some Rock This Bitch shouts from the lower level during a quiet moment, but only once really. Good show overall, exceeded my expectations. The fake Frown Song ending was unexpectedly funny and cute.

So Ben put this out there because he wants himself to fail?

Gotta say the fact that SFS had no b-sides (except Bitches, which ended up on SSSG anyway) was kind of sad.

wasn't Side of the Road an SFS B-side? (Also, you might be able to count the strings version of Landed.)

You see, I've felt for a while that Free Coffee and TBWN are rather dull in the live versions - they're lively, but musically not very interesting - with Hiroshima they make the album sound very samey. These ones are much nicer. IMO.

you really think the live version of free coffee is less musically interesting? i think it's a lot more interesting than this album version. this version sounds like jesusland with worse chords. i like the live version's chords quite a bit, plus it has that weirdo trippy bridge.

the bitch went nuts wasn't that great originally but this one sounds like rent-a-cop, which is all i need to say. you're right about hiroshima though, that song is awfully boring. the same 4 chords from start to finish.

the live versions of TBWN and Brainwashed are both a lot better than these recorded ones though, both musically and lyrically - i have a really hard time believing he'd play better songs as a joke and the real songs would really be this bad. but that's just my opinion over here.

I finished my download tonight, it's a great concert. The video quality is iffy but it's still very worth getting. The beginning of Underground is hilarious and some dude gets up and dances on stage during Fair for a few seconds. Also, some of the audio and video from this show made it into Spare Reels, including the very awesome version of Dr. Pyser. Anyway, I'll keep seeding it as long as I can.
