An awesome improv interview about the future: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRzdWS__IjE

And a longer intimate interview about some of the history of the reunion that might not be so well covered in other interviews: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtLz2Y03xe8

Ben Folds just tweeted back to me. Apparently, "Past Lives" (I think its been renamed "Love Into the Light"), the last track, has his strings.

Americans can stream the album now on iTunes. Does anyone know which track it was for which Ben did the strings?

I'm listening now...

News / Re: TSOTLOTM Official Hal Leonard Transcription Book
« on: November 23, 2012, 01:01:36 PM »
Mine came the other day. It's a great book. The transcriptions are great: very clear about when distinguishing between an arrangement of another instrument for piano, and adding extra bars on occasion (i.e. "Draw a Crowd" has electric piano and acoustic piano separated in a few parts).

If I had one, then my one grievance with the sheet music would be the transcription of "Do It Anyway." It's accurate I think, but they wrote in 4/4 what I would transcribed in only one measure of 4/4 for the sake of simplicity (1 1/4 note = 256 or something like that; way too fast on the page turning, etc.).

General Board / Alicia Witt?
« on: October 15, 2012, 06:26:27 AM »
I've noticed that Ben has been promoting/mentioning Alicia Witt a lot on Twitter. Anyone know if they've collaborated on something, or the heavy Twitter activity is account of their being fans/friends/something similar?

Tim Reynolds is listed second name, about 33 lines in on "Vice-Presidents of Promotion cont'd." Is this Tim Reynolds of DMB fame?

Album Board / Nataly Dawn song for BF5 album?
« on: September 22, 2012, 07:57:02 PM »
Does anyone else remember Ben mentioning a collaboration/Sonny & Cher style song with Nataly Dawn on the new record? Is this the song they didn't release?

I have not yet received and therefore read the liner notes. It's possible that she's singing background on some track ("Hold That Thought"?), and I just can't tell.

"Sentimental Guy" to the best of my memory is from the Whatever and Ever Amen era. I forget where I read that, but I remember this coming up a few times.

Transcription / Do It Anyway Chords
« on: September 19, 2012, 03:52:12 PM »
Just was playing around and noticed it's almost all

Dm and then F

The bridge is something like Gm Bb Gm Bb C

Also there's a fun piano riff in the right hand in upper registers that basically goes like G#AF over and over really fast.

He just tweeted it. Eddie Walker (the real one) is a band member, and so is Steve Willard.

Adult-friendly kids music.
