General Board / Steel Drum Cover of Ben Folds Five
« on: February 22, 2009, 04:56:48 AM »
I was browsing Calypso on youtube and stumbled across this video which I thought was very original and deserved a mention. Check out Brick being played on Steel Drums!

Wow. Landed strings version has just come on UK DAB radio station Chill. I thought that's so cool, it deserves a thread.

General Board / We Officially Welcome Jared and Lindsay to the Legacy
« on: December 15, 2005, 10:54:20 AM »
I think after seeing Ben play on Tuesday at Brixton, it would be fair to say everyone in the audience was truly blown away. It was definitely a highlight of the year, and I think it was a pinnacle moment. Originally when people found out Ben was playing in a 'five' lineup again, everyone was going to be really harsh.
"No one will ever replace Darren and Robert", "Ben should stay solo", "They suck" were general comments thrown around.

However I think now they have well and truly proven their worth. They are not trying to replace Darren and Robert, but instead have officially become a part of the next stage that is the Ben Folds Legacy.
I officially congratulate the guys on such a fine job, as a tight band, good singers, energy and giving us our money's worth.
Three cheers....
Hip hip!

Tour Board / The great Hammersmith Arm-Wrestle!
« on: June 15, 2005, 11:24:54 AM »
These are the pics of the arm-wrestling competition between Andy, James and myself.
Round 1 - James beat Andy
Round 2 - James beat Andy (with left hand)
Round 3 - James beat me (but I would like to add it went on for a while, and he managed to get my arm nearly touching the *table* 4 times, I manged to bring it back up every time, until I was worried my wrist might actually snap off.

There was no round 4 because we could not be arsed.

Tour Board / Leicester De Montford Hall Gig
« on: June 15, 2005, 06:56:00 AM »
Attended this show as a last minute thing along with NickD. Although we were sitting in W1 + 2 (the furthest back in backland possible) it meant we were the only people that could stand up! Hurrah! Really really, REALLY pleased that Ben played Don't Change Your Plans, (one of my all time favourite Ben songs), as well as Sentimental Guy, and Prison Food.

Here is the full setlist:

Intro Music: Band come on stage
Cooler Than You,
All U Can Eat (with Asda again, although no introduction)
Still Fighting It,
You To Thank,
Prison Food,
Bitches Ain't Shit,
Carrying Cathy,

Sentimental Guy,
Last Polka,
Don't Change Your Plans,
The Luckiest (because someone had written him a letter in request to getting married),
Obsessed (by Daniel Johnstone) - some odd cover, but quite cool to hear a new song.
Army (audience harmonies)

Zak and Sara,
In Between Days,
Rockin' The Suburbs,

Not The Same, (audience harmonies)
One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces

A rockin' show! Shame he didn't play Losing Lisa or Underground but a great show and band were on top form.

General Board / Ben on BBC Radio 6
« on: June 06, 2005, 02:28:46 AM »
Hey Andy, and anyone else online. Did anyone ever manage to get a hold of this show from last Monday? I don't have freeview, nor DAB Radio so I couldn't listen to it.

Transcription / Music room 'landed'
« on: March 16, 2005, 02:09:48 PM »
Anyone get that horrible feeling when they looked at the transcription thats out? Just from the first page I'm starting to get worried that they've gone and made the worst possible mistake ever - by including the vocal part in the right hand of the piano.
Those types of transcription make me sick. Anyone else? If the vocal part is above, then all we need is the piano. Wht can't they transcribe it as Ben plays it, like for the old Hal Leonard ones. I hope this is a one-off, and that it's going to be re-done. This is shocking stuff. A proper insult to Ben's playing.

Transcription / NWC - how to configure?
« on: February 15, 2005, 04:36:36 AM »
Hey people, I just want to know something. How can I get NWC files to print without having just the first bit of the score print off at the top of the page?
Ie I have Satan Is My Master, and want to print it off on one page. How do I make it smaller, and have more than one staff line of a page of A4?
Pleae help.
