Tour Board / Town Hall, New York, NY - April 30, 2015
« on: May 01, 2015, 04:55:43 AM »
Very good show. Crowd was, overall, great, and the venue was perfect for this ensemble. Won't put a full review up, but here are some notable notes:

- No setlist, but based on what has been up on the main set was very similar to the other nights in NYC. The encore was Rock This Bitch (which was surprisingly fantastic), Annie Waits, Still Fighting It, Army, and Not the Same.
- The infamous "Ain't Got No Words" now has words and (from what I see on is called "So There", and was the first song they all played together.
- Ben messed up the second song they all played together ("Long Way to Go"?) and did some on the spot rearranging, explaining how he cut the part out and then put it back in on the record so he confused himself. The moment broke the tension and the rest of the show was full of banter.
- Ben asked that no one post anything on YouTube so that people can hear the album as a whole instead of hearing versions online. Also said they just finished the album.
- Gave a back story to Cologne. The song now makes perfect sense.
- Darren Jessee was at the show, by himself, looking very Dylan-esque. Did not approach him, and the fans around him were courteous. He got a shoutout from Ben before Steven's, but did not perform.

Excited for this album, and based on this show, it should be pretty solid, if not unique.

Tour Board / Port Chester, NY - 10/9/12

Michael Praytor, Five Years Later
Missing The War
Hold That Thought
Jackson Cannery
Selfless, Cold and Composed
Erase Me
Alice Childress
Sky High
Thank You For Breaking My Heart
Battle of Who Could Care Less
Do It Anyway
Draw A Crowd
Narcolepsy (with jazz jam outro)
Song For the Dumped (no jam)

Note: Philosophy and One Angry Dwarf were cut from the setlist and Narcolepsy was added. Seemed like there was a curfew, because it didn't make sense that they would cut Dwarf when it was going to be the last song.

Just curious, since I didn't get mine today.  ???

General Board / So I started a music blog
« on: November 30, 2011, 03:52:02 PM »
I know I don't post here much anymore, but I thought you guys might be interested in this. I started a music blog about a month ago, with the full intent of just airing my opinions about certain albums, artists, and live shows that I feel strongly about. This past Friday I posted two entries, both about Ben Folds.

The first is my personal history with the music of Ben Folds, and it can be found here:
The second is my review/opinion on the retrospective album, and it can be found here:

I felt that in order for my retrospective review to be appropriate, I needed to go through my history with the music, so it might be better to read the history first then the review, but it really doesn't matter.

The homepage of the site is,, and though the first entry there is the retrospective review, there are links to my first three entries. Most of the entries are on the long side, so I apologize. If you like what you read, please feel free to subscribe and/or leave feedback here or on the site. I try to update every Friday, and already have one ready to go for this week.

Transcription / Trying to figure out "Soldier of Love" by Majosha
« on: April 18, 2011, 08:14:02 PM »
I've pretty much got most of the chords down, but I'm having trouble with the bridge. Neither versions' mixes are great, and I don't have an amazing ear or guitar technical ability to go all crazy with chords. Also the chorus during the key change, I'm not sure if it's just a whole step up from the regular chorus.

Basically what I've figure out is...
Verse: C Em D F (repeats throughout)
Chorus: F D F D F G
Bridge: Part 1 - bass line is A G# F# E D C# B E / From what I gather from the non-88 version is that the guitar is playing A G#m A G#m F#, but I can't really figure it out
           Part 2 - Em A D G D G D G
Verse chords
Key change
Verse: D F#m E G
Chorus (should be but doesn't sound right): G E G E G A(?)
Verse chords just repeat again

Any help would be appreciated.

Tour Board / I want Ben to play "Soldier of Love" on this tour
« on: February 11, 2010, 07:45:21 AM »
This may be my favorite song of his from Majosha that he has not rerecorded and I would like him to play at some point on the tour, because I think he should record it again. Thus, I'm suggesting that everyone going to a show make it a point to shout for this song. If we do this every night, at some point he may just try to relearn it. Who's in?

General Board / It's been a long f*cking time
« on: April 17, 2008, 07:11:29 AM »
Hello Suburbs!

It's been a few years since I posted on here, and I used to be a regular. Just stopping by to see if anyone remembers who I am. I'm still into Ben, just not nearly as much as I used to, or at least not with the same fanaticism. So, I'm really out of the loop on what the hell is going on in the Ben World. I know he got divorced and now has supposedly remarried, and is supposed to put out a new album soon. Hopefully it will be quality.

Anyway, I'll try to stop by more often.

News / Is Lindsay not playing with Ben anymore?
« on: January 27, 2007, 07:45:58 AM »
I've heard that Lindsay Jamieson is no longer drumming with Ben. Is this true?

Since I almost forgot that this site existed, all of my "info" has been from the blue boards which has become more of a social hangout than anything else, but still fun.

Anyway, someone please enlighten me on the topic if you know anything.

General Board / New Song! Check it Out

The track is called "Pleasure and Pain". It's live so it's not the best version in the world, but it's good none the less.
