General Board / meaning behind Landed
« on: December 07, 2007, 02:11:46 PM »
Since Ben's divorce has come out for all to see (I mean its on wikipedia, how more public can you get), does anyone else think that maybe his situation there might have fueled the song landed? I dunno if anyone's talked about it before on here yet, but I was listening to it and it struck me as something that might be related.

Transcription / Don't Change your plans - Bridge vocals
« on: November 30, 2006, 04:16:56 PM »
Hey, this is kind of a weird question, but I was wondering if anyone has ever figured out/transcribed the vocal parts of the bridge in DCYP. I've been trying to figure them out since I heard the song, but I still haven't gotten it completely. its a three part harmony, and I just can't get it just right. can anybody help me out?

Musical discovery / A.J. Croce
« on: August 19, 2006, 09:32:49 AM »
I was listening to my Ben Folds station on, and I came across this guy named  A.J. Croce. I really like him alot, he doesn't seem to be very mainstream at all, but he plays some nice blues/rock piano, as well as some more southern style guitar in different songs. he's definitely not some Keane type piano player who has only managed to figure out how to play a few chords on the piano, he definitely goes on some awesome riffs.

anyway, thought you all might want to check him out. I'm still discovering his style 'n such, but I love him already.

Maybe this is old news, but I was just wondering about the ring that you hear near the end of SLNIT. It sounds like a telephone ringing, and I remember something about them recording the first album (maybe more) in one of their'm just wondering if it really is a ringing telephone or if I'm just hearing things, and if it is, why didn't they cut it out?

Since those english fellows had their own football poll, I thought it would be nice if I started one for the real football. you only kick the ball a few times in the game in this football. the rest of the time, you're pushing your way past 280 pound linemen while trying to hold onto the ball. oh yes. a real sport.

p.s. I tried to make the football teams the ones that were closest to the largest groups on the frappr map.

p.p.s. props to the Australian football. I must admit, there football is at least 2 times more manly than American

p.p.p.s. I hate SOCCER

General Board / Ben's ear
« on: April 28, 2006, 08:50:30 PM »
I was just wondering, does anyone know whether or not ben has perfect or relative pitch? I think he would have to, to be able to pick up so many instruments so fast, but I wasn't positive. someone maybe might have posted on this before, but I couldn't find it.

Why is it that Guster and Ben Folds seem to go hand in hand? On things like Napster and other music programs I have both bands always recomend each other, and on things like Ben Folds radio Guster always plays. They don't really sound much alike, the only thing I could really draw between then would be the harmonies.....but that's about it. It was because of this that I became big Guster fan. comments?
