Tour Board / Re: Folds to play solo in Ann Arbor, MI April 11.
« on: April 13, 2013, 07:07:08 AM »
There were two openers: Motel Model, who won a battle of the bands in Ann Arbor to open for the show and Radical Something, who was this ridiculous rap-rock "band" out of California.

I managed to get a few videos, I generally catch a few at Ben's shows now that iPhones offer a pretty good recording. Here's a playlist of what I caught on Thursday:

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGC3HG-PGNW5NWR90W9e85FsllvzhsSIi

1. Bitch Went Nutz
2. Still
3. Philosophy (Inc. Misirlou)
4. The Luckiest
5. Not the Same

I was Row C seats 307 and 308.

Figured I'd post it since I know I appreciate having them:

  • Michael Praytor, Five Years Later
  • Missing the War
  • Hold That Thought
  • Jackson Cannery
  • Selfless, Cold, and Composed
  • Erase Me
  • Alice Childress
  • Sky High
  • Landed
  • Magic
  • Battle of Who Could Care Less
  • Do It Anyway
  • Brick
  • "Robert Sledge is a Rock God" (Short Improv)
  • Draw a Crowd
  • Narcolepsy
  • Emaline
  • Kate
  • Army

Encore:

  • Songs for the Dumped
  • Uncle Walter
  • Underground

So, so happy with the setlist. Alice Childress, Emaline, and Magic ALL iN THE SAME SHOW! It was brilliant.

EDIT: Forgot to add this! I took a video of the encore and threw it up on youtube. I apologize for the shakiness but the sound turned out great.

Tour Board / Re: 2010 Tour Dates!
« on: March 05, 2010, 12:44:52 PM »
Judging by the email that I received from BenFolds.com today I'm assuming there's no Michigan date... I'm super disappointed.

I've wanted a solo show since I started listening to him!

I wish that strange "Ohio-> Missouri -> [blank] -> Ohio" situation meant a Saturday Michigan show, but alas, that seems quite unlikely for many reasons.

Man, I hope he has a Michigan date at least. I'd love to see him at the Ark... or back at the Michigan Theater.

I feel like all the presale tickets have been General Admission... not sure how I feel about that. But I guess that's me being an old man at the ripe old age of 19.

But he's gotta come to Michigan! I've been wanting a solo show since I started listening to him in '06 so I definitely missed the last solo tour.

Anyone have a torrent of all of the stuff on the site?

I want all of it, but it's a lot of right clicking and saving as. Maybe there's a better way to do it that I don't know of.

Any ideas?

Haha, that would be awesome to have. The problem is, looking on ebay, I can't even find any BFF vinyls.

The only one up there is a UK release of the self titled album and it's going for $80. Is that the common price?

I need a job.

Two main questions here:

1. Does anyone have a list of all of the different vinyl releases (full length, EPs, singles, everything) that both Ben Folds Five and Ben Folds have put out?

2. Does anyone have a good idea as to where I should go to buy said vinyls?

Thanks!

Tom and Mary was with band. He had to tell them the chords before he started playing haha.

Edit: Haha, it was actually pretty funny. He said something along the lines of "Chances are if it's not E or A then it's E#" What a great man.

Wind Up Monkey was improv. He segued from "Don't Change Your Setlist" over to a song about how he's got to play certain songs and swear like he always does, like a wind up monkey haha.

It was a pretty fantastic show, the best I've seen from him so far but I've only been to 5 shows total.

Also, I was the one that yelled Tom and Mary when he finished Kylie so that was awesome.

So I caught Ben when he was last in MI this past October, I was wondering if we could speculate as to whether or not it would be one of the "big stage production" shows or something closer to what he's done in the past.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some Ben Folds so I'll be happy no matter what, but nothing beats the magic of the first time I saw him in E. Lansing and he played a little solo set in between playing with the band.

I like it when he takes the time to tell stories and he didn't do that much in October.

1..2..3.. SPECULATE!

Edit: Also wondering if anyone's had any luck getting press-quality cameras into Ben shows recently. I'd really love to get some pictures of him with my Nikon D40.

News / Re: BF5 myspace concert DVD??
« on: January 18, 2009, 09:26:56 PM »
Oh man. I'd pay upwards of at least $30 if they included the other songs performed at that concert too like Jackson Cannery and whatnot.

Please Ben?

The main floor is definitely Standing Room Only, but the balcony is what I'm worried about. There is a seating chart, but the seating system on the chart doesn't match up with the way it's put out on the ticket.

Rows are lettered on the chart, while I'm in row "224".

I was hoping that it was indeed just a placeholder, otherwise it looks like I'm sitting at the back of the balcony...
