Met Ben after this gig. Only 5 of us were waiting after the show behind the gate. They all piled into a 16 passenger van. Made it to the end of the alley way and turned around.  ;D ;D  Got to talk a long while.  ;D ;D ;D then Ben asks me if we want to take our annual selfie (What? Plus, if you know me on social media, I'm like 0 selfies girl) so sure I guess and I pass my phone off to the couple I had befriended while waiting. NO. That Ben Folds we know and love takes the damn selfie on his phone? I tried not to die. I suppose I didn't. Here's the photo of the photo from my phone. Also after all this time look at how much space I am giving him.

WELP. I am known to like a personal bubble.

I am NOT giving you an option for all of the above. Sorry friends. I have set it up where you can change your vote, but I'm curious about what song grabbed your attention the most in the initial week with the record.

Tour Board / New Nashville Show Announced - FREE - Sept 12
« on: June 25, 2015, 11:50:46 PM »
http://lineup.liveonthegreen.com/events/2015/09/12/?alldays=1

Ben's Birthday in his current town (ish)

I THINK WE SHOULD ALL GO.

Or at least as many of us that can. A free show in a cool town on the dude's birthday? Seems like a fair excuse for a Burb meet-up.

Tour Board / Bonnaroo 2015
« on: June 10, 2015, 10:02:28 PM »
If you're not following us on Facebook or Twitter (I do update those far more frequently)

You can stream Ben and yMusic's 9:45 PM CST set on Friday on bonnaroo.com

Will anyone be able to record it? I don't think I'll be home/with wifi anywhere to do so, otherwise I'd volunteer

Tour Board / Chicago w/ Youth Symphony - June 6, 2015
« on: June 07, 2015, 12:35:10 AM »
Point one: Holy hell those kiddos could rock, and the Chicago Theater was perfect.
Point two: Loved the audience, and particularly their love for Andy the approx. 16 year old saxophonist. I love sitting next to strangers who have either not seen Ben ever or in years - or in this case ever with a symphony. Watching their delight makes my delight even that much more meaningful.
Point three: Poor pianist girl in the symphony, I think the only thing she even played on was Cologne and she sat there all serious through the show with her hands in her lap.
Point three b: She did erupt into a grin after each song, and particularly One Angry Dwarf.
Point four: I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS NEW RECORD. I mean I anticipate any Folds release, because there is no other choice being me and all, but I am SO enthralled by this new sound. I can't even come up with adequate words. I hope it does well - even if it's just in the indie circuit well.
Point five: This show will likely be my last show before July 4th, and it was a hell of a show to end my (first) decade of Folds Fandom. (July 4, 2005 was my first show and the day I became a fan).

Okay here be the set list.

1. Effington (loved that Sam stood up and sang the opening line and wasn't amplified at all but we had no problem hearing it.)
2. Jesusland
3. Erase Me (reportedly the second time that it's been played with a Symphony so the arrangement is technically a work in progress. AND HOLY CRAP it was intense and wonderful and I want... no. NEED. a symphony recording of this song)
4. Cologne
5. Concerto Movement II
6. So There (which I was quasi-surprised that new stuff was being played, but I'm not a composer - at all - and don't know how time consuming it would have been to take the yMusic arrangement and make it a 60 piece)
7. Steven's Last Night in Town

Intermission

8. Zak and Sara
9. Capable of Anything
10. Rock this Bitch
11. Landed
12. You Don't Know Me (which featured one of the young girls from the symphony on the female vocals, clearly not very rehearsed but I was super proud of her)
13. Brick
14. Not the Same
15. One Angry Dwarf (which was particularly wonderfully loud)

Encore:
16. The Luckiest

Tour Board / Bonnaroo 2014
« on: May 07, 2014, 10:13:53 AM »

While Bonnaroo (music festival extraordinare in Manchester, TN) has included Ben in many of their previous line ups, and specifically this year he played alongside The Flaming Lips for the line up announcement party.... he wasn't included on the actual line up for 2014, much to many people's surprises. We speculated that it was due to the concerto and not having a full band at the time (and apparently not a one-off BF5 gig?).... but today, May 7, Bonnaroo announced their Superjam lineup, and look who's there!

See you on the farm? (Anyone else going?)

News / Ben's Birthday = Today!
« on: September 12, 2013, 01:28:50 PM »
Happy 47th dude!
Seriously though the Archduke Ferdinand of my life. Without the dying bit. No Folds means I have no idea who I would be right now, in some alternate time stream where he was either never born, or he never became a musician.

General Board / Folds/Five creeping into your real life?
« on: August 08, 2013, 10:58:33 AM »
I mean, anyone who knows me outside of these red walls...
But, I mean more along the lines of people who may not be aware of your Foldsian nature. Trying to either introduce you, or show you something 'new' you haven't seen before.

my prof just tried to out do me on Ben Folds knowledge. 8in8 is not hard. DID tell me we're gonna watch Amanda Palmer' TEDTalk in class. AND Because the Origami IN CLASS. PEOPLE. PEOPLE. Folds shit in my classroom. AND I didn't put it here. I patiently await the day I can school people in my knowledge. Hahaaaaaa.

He even said it in front of the whole class. Said - I might show you a video you don't know about.
Always wrong. Ha. I am a bit of an encyclopedia, aren't I? I am always up for new things, but 8in8 is something we here at theburbs (which was included in my homework) reported on. Yay. Go team.
