General Board / Wandering (Instrumental) from 100 Girls
« on: September 15, 2015, 10:15:22 PM »
Hey all-

I was curious after reading through this post about how the version of Wandering from 100 Girls sounded, so I pulled the surround audio from the film and grabbed what is pretty close to an isolated version of Wandering from the film. I say pretty close because, as you'll hear, after the chorus there are various noises and chatter that can be heard - unfortunately this was mixed into the track and couldn't be muted. But all of the dialogue is removed, and I faded out as nicely as possible at the end (it changes gear pretty quickly), so it's pretty listenable!

The end of the chorus has a very harsh edit - again, not me, that's how it is in the film. My guess is that with the dialogue over it it's barely noticeable in the movie.

Anyways, here it is. I hope someone finds it useful!

i made recordings of tonight's show and last night's show which will be incoming. possibly delayed since apparently ben had asked early shows not to record video. no mention of that tonight.

As hopefully many of you know, Mr. Ben made a cameo as a botany professor on Community last night, but to my surprise he also had a song on the episode, "Ass Crack Bandit", in reference to the character in the episode terrorizing the students by dropping quarters in their cracks. As confirmed on twitter, the featured voice is unmistakably that of Ruby Amanfu, who many will likely recognize from Jack White's recent solo work.

Until the full song is made available, here is a version I stitched together from a couple of the channels of the 5.1 mix (which helped get rid of some of the in-show sound effects). The rain was mixed in with the music tracks, so there wasn't much I can do about that- but it definitely gives it that ominous feel the episode was going for.

MP3 here. Enjoy!

really great show. the guys really got into it after the first third of the set - the crowd was very odd at this show, sitting and standing depending on the song. i think it really threw the band off a bit, until we finally got everyone standing for the rest of the show.

recording turned out great - it'll be up tonight (what a tease!) once i get a chance to finish tagging and uploading.

and since I know there are Jukebox fans here: LINK - wasn't sure if there was a better place to put this?
and the two bands that opened for Jukebox: Now, Now and Savoir Adore.

anyways - I hope you guys like these. I'm sorry it took a month to get them to you, but I literally only got my laptop back and working a week ago, so everything has been in limbo since before that. please do feel free to share around, but if you post the link somewhere, please make it the link to the respective page- that's all I ask. Let me know what you think!

The Summerfest show will be coming sometime in the future. I have it "mixed" to sound as best as it could, but since these sounded 10x better I decided to spend the rest of my time prepping them instead of finishing Summerfest. Forgive me, and if a month goes by, do not hesitate to bug me incessantly about getting that show up.

Ben's Old Five / Old Press Kit- Magazine Scans!
« on: October 09, 2011, 09:09:39 PM »
Hey gang-

Hopefully some of you will enjoy these. My girlfriend bought these off eBay and surprised me with them last weekend. It's a collection from a press kit that the Five's label sent around at the time of Reinhold Messner's release. It includes selections from magazines and a press sheet. I figured none of this was necessarily "new" by any means, but some of the articles are pretty fun, and there are some great quotes. I've always read here about his leaving off of "Carrying Cathy" as well as things about "Break Up at Food Court", but there are some actual real-live quotes on those in here! Whoo!

Anyways, here they are in PDF form. All of them are in black and white, which is a bummer since some of the images are pretty fun. But maybe those are still around somewhere.

550 Music Press Sheet (with Truths and Rumors)
Rolling Stone
Alternative Press
Time Out New York
New Music Monthly

The SPIN, NMM, and Details articles are worth a look in particular. A lot of these articles mangle Darren's name. Poor guy.

Hey guys!  I didn't go to this show myself (would have liked to!) but I sent my friend my mics and he managed to get an excellent recording.  He is uploading it to me and I will get it up for you guys asap.

Ben's Old Five / High-quality images/wallpapers...
« on: February 02, 2010, 09:30:53 PM »
I hope this is the right sub-forum, but:

Does anyone have a high-quality image of the Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner cover?  Or any Ben Folds Five images or graphics for that matter?  I'd like to be able to make a background from it but all of the images I can find are at the most 600x600...

EDIT:  Well I used the best image I found and made this:

You can download the big one here.

Hope it makes someone happy!
