Post Messner we were getting a pretty good mix of studio/live/and solo project tracks that were mentioned as purposed for the never finished BFF 4th album to follow tUBoRM.  I'm thinking like "prince charming" type of tracks.

What's the closest we can get to a tracklist?  I am really really curious about this time in the BFF timeline and kind of fear it will be forgotten now that we have an *official* BFF 4th album (tSOtLoTM).  To think - it was almost the 5th full studio album.

Anyone tried to piece this all together?  Allison?

Here is the original that got me going all that time ago - thanks to Allison for hosting!

I just about burst into tears the other day when I had my first listen of the title track of "so there" with ymusic.  This catchy tune, which I've been playing all these years, finally escaped Ben's head and like a phoenix and came to life in beautiful form!  Does anyone have an old mp3 of the original "aint got no words yall" from a live show?

The cover of get your hands off my woman is pretty intense, I actually like it more than the original.

kalamazoo was never one of my favorites, and I'm still not sure I understand it, but now I love it.  The breakdown is sweet and all of his early stuff is cool as I loved dog and protection as well.

adelaide is a really cool arangement and a great song musically, but it bugs me because it doesn't really ever seem to be saying anything.  Something about talking about the pressure of getting to the finish line and getting the record done irks me, I guess I don't buy into this singing about writing songs stuff, since ha already did it in one down, and it kind of annoyed me in that song too.

rent a cop should be taken about as seriously as song for the dumped and I think it's better.  It's hilarious and has some awesome horns!

them that got is a great song that deserved the whole thing, it's just re-recording a studio full version would have taken something away from it I think.

It was a gift from my grandfather who used to be very good but is now suffering from arthritis and is unable to play.  It seems it's a dying instrument but it still is very cool.

What's a papoose?  I have an accordian also.  I can envision Ben playing this instrument.  Barenaked Ladies use it quite a bit, actually, and I really admire a good accordian player.  You any good?

:o  That's a really sweet room you've got there, plus really cool software to edit with.  You're one lucky guy!

Sorry to be so late on replying to this thread.  Good news for me, after three years of playing by ear, I get my first piano lesson tomorrow (I'm pretty nervous).  Anyway, wish me luck!

I have written some "songs" none I would be proud of or would take seriously.  With that said some of my Mp3's might make you laugh a bit if you manage to dowlnload them from my PC with Audiogalaxy.  Everything is under the directory "Original" and includes the
name "Hazen", "Armendariz", "Thomas", or a combination of those three.  While I write all of our pieces of junk, I depend on my two buddies, Armendariz and Thomas, to give me guitar noise.

So how many of you have a little home studio and what is it like?  I have $20 music editing software, a $40 mic, and some freeware for converting wav's to Mp3's.

Audiogalaxy has an option to create Audio communities where members can send MP3's to other members of the group.  Why don't we set one up?

I play the Trumpet well, and the rest I've never had a lesson (so I play them quite awfully): Accordian, Piano, Guitar and Harmonica.

So who's going to figure out the chords for this song?

for those of you with the three Mp3's of Ben's new stuff, have any of you tried to figure it out?  I really liked his second untitled track, the one that he says he'll start the album with.  I've playing a rough version of it and wanted to know if anyone else has attempted?  Here's what I've got so far:

For the intro scales and chords I need help.

Then the part that sounds like the

La Da Da Da
La Da Da Da
Aint got no words 'yall

which is sung later on, is played with chords intitially.

The thumping bass note he's playing is an F I believe, then you just play these two note chords for the La's and Da's over that F:

La Da Da Da
La Da Da Da
CG   CF  CE CD     C
Aint got no words 'yall

the Bass note switches to a B flat somewhere in there.

Hrmm, ??? well I don't know if this actualy helps but I'm having fun playing it right now and am too lazy to put up the rest of the song cause I'm not sure how to describe it, except the other major Bass Notes are the trill up to an A, and then Bflat again and then C and then back to A

The thread is started, someone who knows what they're doing can clean up here ;)

I can just see Ben sitting down with a guitar after sitting at a computer for hours on end, fiddling around with the production process, and just kind of taking a break as he sings and fools around.  He's often commented on how writing is hard work for him but it is all he'll ever do.  It's a cool song whatever it was meant to be.
