Album Board / Re: General Lonely Avenue Discussion

I'm fairly sure the signed manuscript for pre-orders had some caveat like "while they last" or "limited number."  It was my understanding that only a small percentage of them would be signed.

I have to listen a couple more times to get a concise opinion.  Iffy on the first listen, but it's growing on me exponentially.  initial thoughts:
* Loving Working Day and the stretch of tracks 7-10
* Liked the striped down Picture Window better.  This one isn't bad, but the strings seem... too heavy-handed for that delicate of a song, like on "The Long and Winding Road"
* Gotta sit down with the lyrics for Doc Pomus before I get an opinion
* So far it's not my favorite album, but I definitely dig how complex some of the arrangements are and still enjoy it a lot (gotta say my favorite is still WtN, which I know is a minority thought here)

I hate rebuying albums, just for one or two new tracks.  Different formats, understandable.  But, of course, this little bit exclusivity is where they get you...

Here's to hoping some yet-to-be-released singles pack these bonus tracks.

(Unless From Above is the only one?...)
Companies are releasing singles less and less these days. You'll sometimes see them for foreign markets, but the only singles released for Way to Normal were promo singles for Hiroshima and You Don't Know Me, not counting the indie-record store exclusive EP. The Japanese release for Way to Normal had lots of bonus stuff, and the packaging for Japanese releases is always worth the extra money. For me at least.

What kind of bonus stuff?  Color me intrigued.

I only got to tune in for a few moments.

Ben told a story about some dude trying to stab him backstage once.  That's the only thing that really sticks out in my memory.

I have a Bay City Rollers LP. Do I qualify for the Groove Troop? ;)

Totally.  Alright then, it's official.  I'm the president of the Bay City Rollers Groove Troop of Spokane, Washington, and you can be the VP.

You'd think BF would have a couple of friends who would be willing to run a real fanclub for him instead of the corporate fanclub companies he's been using that charge so much for not a lot....

I think his fanbase is way too big for that to be feasible  Also, I think the internet kind of killed the whole "President of the Spokane, WA Bay City Rollers Groove Troop" style fan club.

also, i'd like to point out how this album/ topic has brought out some old school members i think.... i'm recognizing some old usernames

I was thinking the same thing... I think this is a good omen for the album.

Don't quote me on this, but I'll just bet the later tour is because they'll be filming the Sing-Off Season Two this September/October.  (and technically, November is still fall, so it still counts.)

I'm so confused...did Dean and Scotty divorce?

And did he marry this new woman Peggy?  I hope I'm wrong but that's what the picture implies...

I just assumed it was one of his wifey's relatives.

SO PUMPED!!!!!!!

Wish I could be a little more eloquent, but there you have it.

Man, this song gives me goosebumps.  Reminds me of hearing a pretty choppy early leak of Landed and just sitting there amazed.  Wave of nostalgia, same sense of awe, but definitely glad that technology has advanced.

Emaline is the real-life story of Ben dating a horse.  I read it on the internet.
