Album Board / Doc Pomus!
« on: September 17, 2010, 05:34:09 PM »
So, I might be a little slow and this might have been posted before, but I was just browsing through a Ray Charles Transcription book of mine, and I noticed a song called "Lonely Avenue" by Doc Pomus that he was covering.

Thought I'd bring up this interesting tid bit in case anyone didn't know.

Tour Board / UD Set List
« on: April 19, 2010, 05:51:57 PM »
After reading about the STL show, this was a very similar crowd/concert. It seemed there were too many students not interested in the music who didn't know his stuff. Not to mention, I don't think the general feel ever works in a large stadium. There was no one else singing around me which was kind of funny, they probly heard me more than Ben. Still, it didn't seem to bother Ben to much, typical college concert. Here's the setlist, although i didn't write it down, so not in order, but 99% sure i got 'em all.

Annie Waits
Rock This Bitch (Weirdest Rock this bitch i've heard. about the hospital down the street and his overweight waitress at Denny's. Which is why he went right into...)
All U Can Eat
Secret Life Of Morgan Davis (played this after because he said some audiences are more into music, others lyrics, and liked the response from the words in All u can eat)
Fake Bitch Went Nutz
You Don't Know Me (w/ Kate and her guitarist - who were great!)
Steven's Last Night in Town (w/ Drum solo)
We're Still Fighting It
Army (crowd singing was horrible)
Picture Window
Narcolepsy (After the middle section he did some improv 12 bar blues - don't know if the lyrics were from a song or made up)
Bitches 'Aint Shit (by request from a lot of people yelling, had a girl come and sing the second verse)
Not The Same (4 part harmony, horrible audience singing again)

Zak and Sara
One Angry Dwarf 200 Solemn Faces

THANK YOU for requesting Morgan Davis.  I wasn't close enough to yell anything, but I was SO hoping I'd hear that sometime.

You're Weclome! One of my fav songs, always great to hear it.

My 11th folds show and easily my favorite! (first time seeing him solo)

This isn't the correct order, but these were the songs.

Free Coffee
Annie Waits
All you Can Eat
Levi Johnstons Blues
Picture Window
Steven's Last Night in Town (with awesome drum solo)
Hiro's song (all on his drum set)
Rock this Bitch on drums
Sentimental Guy
Zak and Sara
You Don't Know Me
Bitch Went Nutz
Morgan Davis (which I requested!)
Still Fighting It
Not the same (4 part harmony)
One Angry Dwarf 200 Solemn Faces

Rockin' The Suburbs
Song For the Dumped

This show was awesome. He was on fire (nothing new there) and played forever, taking a ton of requests. His drum solo on Steven's Last night was amazing. All I can say is his fingers must hurt like hell after tonight.

Definitely a good show. Lots of energy towards the end with a nice rockin' the suburbs and one angry dwarf. cool to meet him again after the show as well.

News / Re: Ben Blog (politics/vote!)

Neither Obama nor McCain get my vote (especially not Obama).

Bob Barr '08!

lol, just realized for Bob Barr you could still say "Barr-ock this bitch!"

At the Chicago show when Ben came out for the solo part of the encore i shouted "Emaline!" I have no idea if he heard me but he played it right after Luckiest! Man am I glad he played that. That's one of my favorites (if not my top favorite) and had never heard it live before. Amazing concert, especially the encore!

Unfortunately I won't be able to meet up, not getting there until late... coming up to visit my older brother and take him to his first BF show. I don't think I've met anyone from the 'burbs before tho! ... maybe once last march after the OSU show talking to Sam and Jared. Anyways, hopefully I'll run into to some off ya'll after the show.

My birthday week as well! The 5th!

beautifully put Deano... I'm really pulling for them to at least do a tour together...

With Way to Normal just coming out I dont think he will anytime soon. Especially since Sam and Jared are really in that album and the Five aren't.

Not too mention that would be a d*ck move to Sam and Jared...
