Hi all,

I've just released a single + music video, and I was hoping you'd all give it a watch & listen!

It's probably closer to 70s Elton John than it is Ben Folds, but it's all in the same universe.

I hope you enjoy.  Any thoughts are appreciated & welcomed  :)

Has anyone received or gotten any word on the signed vinyl that was supposed to be coming through the pledge?  It seemed like it was over a week ago that I saw a Facebook pic Ben posted where they were signing everything in New York.  I've been checking the pledge site, and it doesn't look like my signed copy has even shipped.  I'm excited to hear this.

I just wanted to add my thanks to the long list of people who appreciate and are enjoying this.  I was bummed when I learned that they had inserted "Missing the War" into the set only a few shows after the Nashville one I had been to.  Thanks again!

I, too, have a signed vinyl coming my way (hopefully by end of year). Do you think that BFF being at comic con opening ceremonies on or around Oct 11 will provide a window of when we can expect those? They'll surely be able to check in and get those albums fulfilled, right?

I hope they sign the physical cover.  I'd rather have it that way, than in an insert that will probably never leave the sleeve.

Missing the War, NICE! That was one of the ones I was hoping for in Nashville. I heard Ben do it once during the solo years, but nothing compares to the harmonic blend between these three.

Thanks for the report!

That set list is fantastic!  I would have loved for them to have played "Landed" at the Nashville show.

I am in pretty much the same boat as you with the immediate reaction to the new record.  It's definitely good, for me.  Taken as a whole, it's probably the best album since RtS, but I'm not sure if it quite lives up to the 90s records.

Last night, however, things changed a bit when I saw the Five play live.

I was astounded at how perfectly the new tracks sit in the flow of the set.  Stacked right up next to the classics, these songs hold their own and then some.  I never imagined that would be the case, but it's really put a nice perspective for me, on the new work.  Honestly, "Sky High" was the highlight of a show filled with high points (and that isn't even my personal favorite from the record).  Ben is playing & singing with vigor and you can tell he really cares about the new material.  "Michael Praytor" is an amazing set opener that really showcases those things about the band that we've missed for so long, and "Erase Me" stomps in and clears a path as well as anything they've ever done.

I think you'll be very pleased when you hit this show :)

Well, there's one event I can finally scratch from my "yet to experience" list.

The set list was very similar to the recent shows from this tour leading up to this one, though I didn't keep track of it exactly.  There were two or three moments that stood out as possibly unique to the Nashville show.

After the opening song (Michael Praytor), Ben had to stop the show for five minutes, as he had forgotten to tape up his fingers, so he had a 'finger tape squad' come out and help him out while he bantered with Robert.

Following Alice Childress, Ben spoke of how the song was conceived.  He said he got the name from a woman in a psychatric ward in Vanderbuilt University, where I believe a friend of his worked.  Apparently, Alice's tick involved hoarding buckets of mop water and throwing it on the workers, haha.  I'm not sure of the specifics, but I have some muffled video of it that I'll try and get on YouTube today.

Mid-way through the set, Ben invited Wayne Coyne (of the Flaming Lips) & Ke$ha up to the stage, where they sang the 'You're the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly', the Conway Twitty/Loretta Lynn classic.  Ben & co. Backed them up, and everyone was cracking up through the whole song.  You could tell they were having a blast together.

I was very impressed with the new songs.  I definitely like the album, but I was surprised at how well the new meshed with the old, during the course of the show.  I never thought I would say this, but 'Sky High' was the absolute highlight for me.  It was gently powerful, and it really showcased the maturity of the reunited group.

If the videos I have are decent enough, I'll upload and make sure to include some links here.  The band sounded amazing.  For those still looking forward to a performance on this tour, you have every reason to be ecstatic.

Really?  I thought "Thank You for Breaking My Heart" was far and away the best song on the album.  I was blown away by that one.  I was also very pleasantly surprised by the tracks that hand't yet leaked.  "Draw a Crowd" and "Hold That Thought" were instantly like-able.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I'm happy that this immediately sounds more challenging than much of Ben's solo material.  I'll need more listens, but I feel like this will be a grower.

The most immediate reaction I have is how much better the full song is than the 30 sec preview that was revealed on Amazon.  The piano bashing in the outro is outstanding.  I love Ben's jazzy inflections and straight notes in the first verses.  This gives me a lot of hope for the new album.

I hope we get this AT LEAST a week early, as I'd like to have familiarized myself with the tracks enough to be able to get into them at their 9-17 Nashville show (which I'm assuming will be heavy on the new material).

News / Re: What the f*ck is this? (New Folds song maybe?)

Yah, this is certainly not a Ben Folds recording.  I'm not sure if it was modeled after something we haven't heard, but I'd say that's highly unlikely, given the widely circulated nature of Ben's old demos.

The one thing I find curious is in the description:

"Made the notes Different from the girl who sings her version.Enjoy"

So, on first listen, it appears to be an original song "in the style of" Ben Folds, but the description makes it seem as if it's actually a cover of a track that may have been written/recorded by a woman?

Who's going??

I've seen Ben a dozen times or so beginning with the 2002-2003 solo piano college runs, but seeing the original Five has always been on my list of events I'd like to have witnessed.  I went for tickets to their reunion show in NC as soon as the bell sounded, but I was unable to get 2 before they instantly sold out. I was VERY disappointed because TUBORM is my favorite record from Ben (solo or otherwise).

This year luck was on my side, as I landed front row! I think it was some cosmic payback for being snubbed those years ago.

By now, I've heard them do a fairly similar set from a few festival shows so far this year. I'm interested in the new material, so considering it's the night before the album is officially released, I'm wondering if we might start to hear some new tracks trickle into the set by then?

Has there been an official confirmation that pledgers will get the record earlier than the street date?  I had read a batch of articles from various sites yesterday stating that we would:,82526/

From what I read on the pledgemusic site on the release, however, I didn't notice anything aside from that September 18th date.
