Tour Board / Re: Did anybody ask about the future of the five?
« on: January 28, 2017, 09:00:51 AM »
There's also apparently a whole next record "ready" that has Ryan and Sam on it, that they recorded pre-So There (and Phone in a Pool was stolen off of).

actually I asked sam about that record and from what he said that record is a long time from being released. however important note: sam also said that, in his opinion, it will have the best song Ben has written on it sooooo..... worth the wait? He said they mostly recorded ideas and that they only had 4 songs and one of them was stolen and put on so there. aka phone in a pool

Thats a solid scoop, thanks for sharing! I'll add that considering he played "only one rock show this year (2016)" [i was there, one off indian casino gig in palm springs w sammy and ryman featuring a setlist plucked straight outta 2005) im really hoping that the break has worked and hes feeling the itch to focus back on rockin as the current tour winds to a close in the spring

*setlist for reference:
bastard
effington
sentimental guy
annie waits
improv 1
still fighting it
jesusland
gone
underground
zak and sara
improv 2
philosophy
phone in the pool
bitches aint shit
emaline
the luckiest
boxing
landed
suburbs
dwarf

To all those who ponied up for the preshow experiences.. I've read all of the reviews and surprisingly no mention  of anyone asking about the future of the five. Just making sure I didn't miss anything, I would love to know where things currently stand with that. Seems to be a revolving attitude.

WHOA WHOA WHOA... First time ever I've seen On Being Frank actually played. Damn.

Also, that magazine he talked about for Jesusland is Relevant, I picked up a copy when the article/cover came out. The article is not bad at all!

New album has been in the works, he wants to get it recorded before he loses RCA A in November

Allison can you clarify on what this new set of recordings is planned to be? Certainly not the next BFF record yet, assuming that's still on deck for in the next couple years. Is the concerto being recorded for release? Or is this the next proper solo record all together?

Copy and pasted from a post over on the blue boards.

Saw them play last night. Single greatest show I've seem him/them play in 11+ years. Totally ripped. Set was a strong two hour and since 2 so cal dates had already been played the band decided to completely toss any kind of setlist and literally wing it for the whole show playing songs that haven't even show up on this tour. Great, loose energy from the band and ALL three of them were genuinely having the time of their lives up there.

Missing the War
Michael Praytor, Five Years Later
Jackson Cannery
Hold That Thought
Selfless, Cold & Composed
Erase Me
Alice Childress
Sky High
Best Imitation of Myself
Emaline
Tom & Mary
Julianne
Fair
Magic
Mess
Song for the Dumped (with a round of the Beatles’ Get Back)
Kate
Brick
Your Cheatin’ Heart (Hank Williams cover)
Success Has Made a Failure of Our Home (brief cover of the Mullins/O’Connor songs)
Steven’s Last Night in Town
Narcolepsy
Draw a Crowd
Philosophy

Underground

*should note that this was *literally* their first attempt at Steven in "14 years" and while certainly rough around the edges, they powered through that shit.

Sledge is a godd*mn monster

The band responded really well through the whole show as the crowd was dead silent during all the performances when they needed to be and honestly was the most respectful crowd I've ever seen at any show. Let alone BFF. You could tell they really appreciate that shit.
