Album Board / Re: Reinhold Messner released in high-res
« on: March 07, 2018, 09:56:26 PM »
I'll have to assume that the download is still locked to somewhere in Europe (Germany, I'm guessing, based on the company's location).

Has anyone purchased this and deemed it as good/different enough for people that already own this album on its original release?  I have yet to listen to the remastered version of TUBORM on the lp rerelease.

This seems like as good a first post as any.

This is a perfect first post.  Thanks!  \m/

I haven't been downloading too many of these, particularly the yMusic ones, since the setlist is seemingly the same every time.  A lot of the ones posted previously that I missed myself over the months have already disappeared from DIME.  So, hopefully, one day they'll crop up again, somewhere.

I recently picked up the WASO lp on Record Store Day.  In my current apartment, I don't have a record player, but I saw it came with a digital download.  However, it seems that the site (hosted on, which I believe is a Sony company) has been undergoing maintenance everyday since then.  Checking on Twitter and some other places shows other people having the same result.

Anyone else who picked it up have success?

Stuff isn't in order.  It's also possible I forgot something.

First half:
  • Phone in a Pool
  • Annie Waits
  • Bastard
  • Landed
  • Not a Fan
  • Capable of Anything

Second Half:
  • Rock This Bitch Improv (about using the word "Choose" instead of "Pick" when someone yelled to pick their paper airplane)
  • Video
  • Levi Johnston Blues
  • Battle of Who Could Care Less (audience did the harmony)
  • Army
  • The Luckiest
  • Fred Jones, Part II
  • One Angry Dwarf
  • Zak & Sara

I will say, I never saw someone head bang to Fred Jones, but I guess there's a first for everything.  Someone was also really hammered sitting next to us, and passed out during OAD.  I did request Fear of Pop in the paper airplanes, but he sadly didn't see it (or threw it out, ha).

Great concert.

Also, what was your paper airplane request?  Always curious to hear the Burbians wanna see.

I was still set on hearing For Those of Y'all Who Wear Fanny Packs for whatever reason.  I was with two other people, and one had the same request as me, and my other friend hoped for Everlong by the Foo Fighters.

I did the sound check experience thing, we're in the middle of waiting for the full show later, so I'll update with a set list probably tonight/tomorrow.

In terms of uncommon (?) songs he sampled, we got:
Silver Street
Twin Falls
Ascent of Stan

I yelled for Fannie Packs, but he sadly didn't hear me.

Set list so far:
(Part I)
Annie Waits
Last Polka
Phone in a Pool
Not the Same
Capable of Anything
I'm Not the Man
Rockin' the Bitch Pushing a VW Bug (story from 1992 pushing a classic VW bug owned by a teacher)
Not a Fan - explained the backstory as a man, decked out in tattoos got back stage at a Folds Five concert, asking what Brick was about (he wasn't a fan, but his girlfriend was).  Ben described him as a zealot.  Upon Ben's "leaving it to the listener" explanation, the guy pulled a knife saying, "I think I know what it's about," and security grabbed him.

Part II is upcoming, and will be a paper airplane request.
(Part II)
Jackson Cannery
Song for the Dumped
Doc Pomus
Bitches Ain't Shit
The Luckiest
Alice Childress
Tiny Dancer

EDIT: Forgot Bastard in the opening set.  We did the 4 part counter point as an audience.

The opening act was pretty chill.

- Beautiful Machines - yMusic
- So There
- Rock this Bitch (Ben was in the middle of explaining a joke, then some dude in the back yelled RTB, and so RTB was a story about the joke)
- Long Way to Go
- Not a Fan (Ben didn't come in right for the opening lyric, and restarted)
- Effington
- I'm Not the Man
- Phone in a Pool
- Mess
- Music in Circles -yMusic
- Song for the Dumped
- Capable of Anything
- Steven's Last Night in Town
- You Don't Know Me

- Army
- Not the Same

I'm not entirely sure of the setlist's order, but I think that was everything.  This was the show that prompted the story about the passport photos that were posted to facebook/instagram since he got them done near Philly when he first started.

Now that I have internet that doesn't have a data cap, I've been reuploading all the bootlegs I have to mega.  There may be some repeats of those on wokeup, but I haven't really done a thorough check.!VxxBUDiJ!UfWMVcWuXCYMgMH03FJdEQ

The only thing that I can't seem to find on my hard drive at the moment is the Freaking Out DVD, which I thought I had somewhere.  So, if anyone has that, I'd appreciate a reupload.

Solo->tiny desk

Spliced it up into some mp3s, if anyone else wants them.  "audio.m4a" contains the original audio from the HQ stream (as I had to re encode for the mp3s).

Seems as though the song preview on YouTube got flagged for a copyright (at least coming from the US).  Anyone grab it before it went down?

Thanks for the recording.  Sounds very nice and clear.  \m/

I was going to go for the $150, but went with the $40 one after thinking it over.  Had the LP insert been signed on the $150 version, I probably would've stuck with it since I thought that was the best visual perk out of any of the editions.

Wow, that's quite a setlist and a very great recording!

Any chance of photos I can use as album art for my mp3 conversion?  :P

When I first heard this song live (and even still a little on the recording) I was positive it was his cover of "Such Great Heights" before the lyrics came in.
Oh good. Now I can't unhear it.

When I played it for one of my friend's, he thought it was going to be a cover of Such Great Heights as well.
