Limited So There Promotion?
« on: October 27, 2015, 03:01:26 AM »
Considering he's appeared on major television shows for nearly every album (even including Fear of Pop and Songs for Goldfish), I've found it interesting that Ben hasn't been on any of the shows to promote So There.  Any insight?

CBS Saturday Morning's ratings are probably a rounding error as compared to the late night shows.

Pretty much everything he's ever released before has warranted a major network late night show appearance, eg Letterman, Conan, etc.

He didn't release a true music video either. I think he knows this album has a smaller audience

Fear of Pop and Songs for Goldfish were a lot more obscure than this, yet with both he appeared on NBC's Late Night.

I know this is a month old post. Which means I haven't been on in a month. (Sorry! New job, new city, new state, etc, etc, 1,200 miles and shit)

This may be related to the fact that Ben's not on Sony anymore. So much of that late show performances and stuff is all circle jerk between the tv station and the label. I mean, take a look at who's on Fallon - which is owned by NBC - which is Universal - which is the largest label in the US. It's like 90% of their own artists.....

I hadn't realized that Ben had left Sony/Epic altogether. I thought the New West thing was only for this album.
A one-hit wonder with no hits...

Hey, that's Oh-Ned-Er!

Technically even SOTLOTM was a P&D deal with Sony.

That and Sony has removed Ben from the list on Sony's site.

"Ben Folds has announced the release of his landmark new album, So There. Hitting stores on September 11, the album is the multi-platinum selling singer/songwriter/producerís first for his new label New West Records, and showcases eight new pop songs recorded and arranged in collaboration with yMusic " http://press.newwestrecords.com/ben-folds/BF-So%20There-Album%20Release-Final.pdf
