News / My little Ben Folds article
« on: January 10, 2011, 11:01:59 AM »
Just a shameless plug for a little article I wrote to plug the UK tour...

Ten Reasons To Love Ben Folds
http://tinyurl.com/33uw48f

Though the title kinda got mangled and reads Ten Reasons To Love Ben Folds Five and contains glaring, glaring grammatical errors...ignore those!

The song choices are also a bit populist - had to choose some with vids so...there you go. Read it, like the hell out of it tell your friends and convert the world one by one people!

Tour Board / Re: UK Tour Feb/March 2011

I'd go for standing at Hammersmith - It's a raked auditorium so it's sloped so all views are good, unlike the Empire where you are screwed if you are not right at the front!

This will be the first time I'm not seeing Ben in London - I'm off to Brum instead...It's gonna be strange!

Hell yeah! Now which show...

"Members of the Ben Folds Fan Club will have advance access to presale tickets" Damn - that means the first twenty tickets are gone then...

Very, very excited now!

News / Re: Ben on UK Radio 2 this Saturday
« on: July 10, 2010, 04:08:46 AM »
That was a good interview I think...Can't remember what the hell was said- it was chit chat mostly, but Jonathan Ross played a song from the album early in the show (I'm rubbish - something about Claire or something?!)

Then Ben and Nick performed live with Ben playing an accoustic guitar. Again, I'm rubbish, can't remember the song!

BUT Ben is touring the UK in January / February 2011 - that bit I remember! I'm guessing the interview will be on the BBC Iplayer for those in the UK. I'm in no way technology literate, so couldn't record it...

I wonder how you become a tour photographer?......

Album Board / Could this be the album to break Ben here in the UK?!
« on: June 15, 2010, 03:22:01 AM »
A new label (which, by looking at the artists they have looks a pretty good home for Ben), and a new album with a profilic novelist, especially here in Blighty - I can see this getting a bucketload of press and, hopefully, getting Ben the coverage he deserves (and some UK dates - lots of them please!)

Don't know about anyone else, but I am so glad that he ditched Sony, who didn't know how the hell to market him and obviously didn't give a rats arse what he did (how else can you explain some of the guff on Way to Normal?!)

Hopefully, with Nonesuch, he will get the guidance and support to get the best out of him and bring him to the attention of the wider public. They have artsists like Randy Newman, Wilco, Natalie Merchant, David Byrne, Bjork - All prestige artists - maybe this is a label that cares about it's roster as much as about the money they can make.

I'm excited - who's with me?!

General Board / lets get Ben and the orchestra to the UK
« on: April 14, 2009, 10:02:20 AM »
An idea occurred to me last night when I was trying to sleep...it may be a brilliant one!

Ben said in the webchat that the reason he hasn't done the orchestra thing in the UK is because no one has asked him to...well, lets all write to the BBC to get the BBC concert orchestra to team up with him? It would easily sell out somewhere like the Barbican or the Festival Hall or The Albert Hall

It would be awesome and don't we own them anyway?!

Lets make it happen people -

I guess its the upside of being a fan of a niche artist - the people with the power know that whatever they put out, we'll all buy legitimately anyway, which probably allows a fair amount of leaway with bootlegs and all that jazz...  ;)

Just noticed that luke has just said the exact same thing...damn the demon drink.... sorry!

Carry on....

I was there!! He answered a bit of my stuff bout Ipswich (cancelled due to poor ticket sales) and the thing with Sony - doesn't look like he's signing a new deal, and johnny Depp banter - and he wrote my name - oh yeah....it means nothing...really...How cool was it though?!
