The book has good sections, and as usual, has sections that suck.

I think they could have made the transcriptions a bit smaller.  Bastard takes up about 10 pages.  Won't someone think of the trees?!?!

amen to that. i dont have the book, i was talking about the whole "saving trees" thing
My new philosophy is that a crappy tape deck somewhere plays a greatest hits collection of strange and tender moments, lost, stranded, and forgotten. I'll meet you there.

well what about selfless cold and composed on the waea book, it takes up more than 20 pages i think...

what about the trees back in 1997??? maybe because of the global warming the ground isn't getting as much of the moisture as it used to nowadays, that's why the trees are dying and sony explicitly told ben to write songs under 3 minutes, so that they didn't have to cut down as much trees as in 1997 to produce a songbook...

...of course ben does what he likes, and we may have to sacrifice some more trees for the sake of his transcriptions

Well the earlier hal books were allowed to have that many pages because they were fully transcribed scores. I'm not saying bastard is too long of a song, its just that i think it would be more convenient if the print was smaller.

I got my SFS book the other day, and while im pleased with it, I'm still a bit dissapointed with the transcription of Landed. It's pretty obvious that, even in the intro, parts are wrong, whereas even Musicnotes has it right (I have both pieces). If anyone is interested in transcribing this/helping me transcribe it, drop me a message or post.

Thanks

jeff

Yea, landed is definetly off.

I'd be interested in helping with the transcription, just send me a PM or something.  The musicnotes version isn't great either, but between the two and a little elbow grease it's possible to get it pretty accurate.

I still haven't ordered my copy yet - I was going to wait until I could get it from Amazon.co.uk who have it listed as a November 30 release.  But I just noticed that musicroom.com (the UK site) is showing it with release date of 28/10/2005 - a good month before Amazon.co.uk.  Orders over 15 get free delivery, but, of course, Songs for Silverman is 14.95 darn it.

So...err... there you go.  A little 'heads up' for any UK people who haven't order it from the US yet.
...and that's all he wrote...

I placed my order with Amazon Marketplace with a seller called "the book depository"  http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/detail/offer-listing/-/0634099108/all/026-3181156-5206842  (3rd one down priced 7.83)  it only cost me about 10 including postage.  Should be waiting for me at home today or tommorow.
I'll let you know if i recommend them when i receive the book but so far so good.

Just to let everyone know, I got my book today from the Amazon Marketplace seller.  No problems at all.  Definitely recommended.  You should all go for it, well worth the money.
Good luck guys
