What did you all do with the Postcard sized photos that came with the Rooster sticker & the Bitches Ain't Sh*t sticker? The reply about the interview containing flossing remarks filled in some "holes" for me. Thanks. :D

Do you think Ben has been approached by any dental care companies? He seems to have some preoccupation with it? I got a sticker from the fan club that looks like a crest or coat of arms that has Ben Folds at the top then some stuff about dental care on a scroll in front of a red rooster pearched on a rock. I'm puzzled by it? Is it the Folds family coat of arms? Not sure what to do with it. I'm thinking I'll put it on my snowboard.  :)

i know this is kind of a downer, but i hope no one from here was involved, or knew someone involved in yesterday's Northern Illinois University shooting. it's such a tragic thing. we actually just got done with out gun control unit in history class, and we even watched Bowling for Columbine...

happy belated valentines day.

From what I’ve read on the internet it appears the perpetrator had some type of mental illness he was taking medication for and stopped (though this is a strange link to make…there has to be more but I’m really not interested as the damage has been done). I wish it had gone like an incident I recall happened back in the day when I was in college. A guy named Marshall Ledbetter took over the Capital building in Tallahassee, Florida (not too far from Florida State University). He didn’t have any weapon & his demands were really out there…he asked for a pizza,666 Donuts for the police, $100 worth of Chinese food, Cigarettes…well you get the picture… (Someone devoted an entry to Marshall Ledbetter and this event in Wikipedia...even posting an image of his demand note.)

This happened in 1991(I’m OLD!) so nobody got shot or anything…just caused a big traffic mess downtown. Jello Biafra (formerly of the band known as the Dead Kennedys) penned a tune “The Ballad of Marshall Ledbetter” in honor of this guy. Then again this too wasn’t such a happy ending as Marshall committed suicide in 2003. I never met Marshall but I had some friends who were friends of his back in school & he seemed like an ok guy. Too bad nobody was able to intervene in either situation…Same goes for Virginia Tech.

I'm intrigued by Joe Jackson's latest work. "The Invisible Man" has intense airplay on Satellite radio...showing up on many different channels. I'm not totally in the know but I don't think I'm taking too much of a leap  by stating that Joe Jackson seems like a big influence on Mr. Ben Folds (Listening to the unreleased Ben Folds Material It sure sounds like I'm not too off on this assumption). Looks like the album is titled Rain...Well what do you know Its out...Never mind. :)

I'm pretty sure that the first thing that Ben ever recorded and released was an album of covers, creatively titled "Joe Jackson Five". I've never heard of anybody actually owning a copy as this was YEARS ago, but the title always makes me laugh. I know it's a reference to The Jackson Five, but I've always thought that that title could be a bague explanation for the name "Ben Folds Five"...

I didn't know that. "Joe Jackson Five" sounds like it would also be a cool album to own...If it exists. It's funny you mention this album making you laugh as I was on a quest for a while for this album that turned up on the internet titled "Ben Folds - Get Nack". People on this board whom I  have asked about it and have gotten back to me think its an internet mistake as the CD cover is an exact copy of what I think was the debut album by a band called "The Knack" that was released in 1979! After you filling me in on the possibility of a "Joe Jackson Five" album It makes me wonder if indeed Mr. Folds went ahead and did a remake of "My Sharona" & other Knack tunes. It doesn't sound so far fetched now. :)

Here is a link to a radar mosaic that has been made into a looping .gif file.

The polygons surrounding the storms are either severe thunderstorm warnings or tornado warnings. Even to the laymen this many polygons should come across as a very bad day.

I post it here for the folks overseas who might not know how high impact an event this severe weather outbreak was.

Last I heard 52 dead...300 injured but I heard that yesterday & I've been too busy today to check up on this data.  :'(

52 people killed...300 injured is what the news says. But this is spread among a number of states. Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama (& probably others I have failed to list here). It looks bad! To those affected my condolences! To those not...I'm glad for that as well. Anyhow I'm sure there will be more details added concerning this event. I'm a meteorologist by trade so I of course have a bit more interest in this event than the laymen...but to know that it might have affected those people who make music we love who live in Nashville...well that just makes more prevalent on my radar screen!  :'(

From all the youtube footage from Mr. Folds’ past shows it appears videocameras are not too frowned upon to take into a show?  Or are these people very effective at concealing these cameras on the way in? I figured since my cell only resolves video at 176X144 I would only end up with more blurred overly distorted shots to add to the growing collection. Soooo I found a small kids toy camera (listed at $80 but discounted to $20)…Its just slightly bigger than a cell phone & put in a 2G SD card into it. It takes video at 640X480 which is a lot better than my cell (~3.5X better) & if I accidentally break it I’m only out $20 (cause I can pull out the SD card). So If Ben does something extraordinary I hope to get it on video & hold the thing still enough it doesn’t look like monkeycam footage. ;D

I just bought my ticket for the show at Gonzaga. I't general admission so that is a very "slight" bummer...but not much as I got another ticket for his show the next day down in Pullman, WA. For all not in the know about Gonzaga It's a nice little private university in the middle of Spokane, Washington right on the river. Their basketball team seems to draw the most interest around the country. That's all I have -th \m/
