A phone call from Allison with some info!
« on: November 05, 2006, 09:14:31 PM »
So, our fellow Suburbian, Allison (ChudleyCannons) just phoned me from the latest U.S. Ben show and gave me some nice info, and a chat with Jared!

So, according to Lindsay (and Allison), that little synth jam at the beginning of the myspace webcast WILL be featured on Ben's upcoming new album. She also mentioned that most of the tracks are done, and it just needs to be mastered. Great news!

In addition, I just got off the phone with Jared (courtesy of, yet again, Allison). Thanks, Allison!

Looks like Allison got herself a pair of free tickets to tomorrow night's show as well from Corn Mo. And as I like to say, you go girl!

Anyway, nice info. Thought I should put it up for her. She also said the setlists have not really varied from night to night. Silly Ben! Time to mix it up!

Hopefully we'll get a full report from her soon! Three shows! YOWZAA!
My new philosophy is that a crappy tape deck somewhere plays a greatest hits collection of strange and tender moments, lost, stranded, and forgotten. I'll meet you there.

Holy f*ck, I'm tired.

But, jesus, after I got off the phone with you, met some people I knew, and Ben came back back out to the small group of us. Shhhhiittt. I don't know how those boys do that, jamming every night. I'm not even playing an instrument and two back to back nights. Allison is tired. And one more show to go.

And glad to help out my fellow Sububanite (or suburbian as the case may be).

I'm going to have to make an epic post on Tuesday when I get back to my own computer so I can give you full stories. But check out these two set lists.

Tulsa:
1. Trusted
2. Cooler than You
3. Rock this Bitch Oklahoma
4. Gone
5. All U Can Eat
6. Roll Out the Barrel (I'm pretty sure my Wisconsinite self was the ONLY person that was actually singing the words. Ben wasn't, he just jammed it right out)
7. Jesusland
8. Learn to Live
9. You to Thank
10. I don't know what the f*ck I'm singing about Tulsa
11. Annie Waits
12. Bastard
13. Landed
14. Bitches Ain't Shit
SOLO:
15. Fred Jones part II
16. Brick
BAND:
17. Army
18. Ascent of Stan
19. Such Great Heights
20. Kate
21. Zak and Sara
22. SOLO: The Luckiest
23. Rockin' the Suburbs
ENCORE:
24. Narcolepsy. (All night Ben'd been telling us about how 10 htz is supposed to make you shit your pants, and he'd been slowly working down to 10 htz on the synth, and so, the lyrics in Narco included shitting your pants, and then at the end Ben laughs, and he says; "I'm in like second grade that still makes me laugh")
25. One Angry Dwarf

Columbia, MO:
1. Trusted
2. A Jam about needing a synth stand, and some guy in the audience yelled that he'd hold it, and Ben went and made it a song
3. Theme for Dr Pyser (Then Ben tells us this story about some bad reviews he's gotten, about his LOOKS. Ben's f*cking looks. Anyway. He tells us this story which some reviewer said "Ben Folds appparently not his shirts" as his shirt tonight was rather wrinkly, and he was apparently self concious of it. flowerofsilver (Brooke) yells "f*ck that guy" and Ben says; "Yeah, f*ck that guy!" And Benjamin goes on to tell us that once while BF5 was in the UK some Brit reviewer who'd given them a great review last time totally ripped into how bad Ben apparently looked and Robert Sledge says, "Man that sucks, (or something of that nature), he didn't say a damn thing about me!" Hahaha. Haha. Oh, silly.
4. Cooler than You
5. Gone
6. Rock this Digital Bitch (uh- as fun as that jam was, doesn't this mean people are gonna start, even more so, yelling for it? Because that gets f*cking annoying.) Ben yelled SHUT UP to the band, and then PLAY and then SCREAM at us throughout.
7. All U Can Eat
8. Jesusland
9. Learn to Live
10. Annie Waits
11. You to Thank
12. Still Fighting It
13. Bastard
14. Landed
15. Bitches Ain't Shit
SOLO:
16. Fred Jones part II
17. The Luckiest
BAND BACK:
18. Army
19. Ascent of Stan
20. Such Great Heights
21. Kate
22. Zak and Sara
23. Rockin' the Suburbs
ENCORE:
24. Narcolepsy
25. One Angry Dwarf

But, uh, I gave Lindsay grief about it after the show, and he says to me "you're the only one who would even know." Shuttup you. Hahaha. Yuuuuuussss groupies! Ha. It was all in all a good night.

ANYWAY NEWS:  Lindsay says that the new albums demos sound really great already, well he called them ideas. Haha. New album in f*cking 07! And, uh, also learned that the New York shows Jared and Lindsay are learning more of the old Five stuff for. Jealous me. Jealous. JJJJEEAAALLOOUSS. Yes. Okay, I think that got the point across.

I'm tired, I'm tiiiiiiirrrrreeeeedddd. And hungry come to think of it.

Oh, and Andy. Glad to brighten your day. Chloe's number is the only one I've got from here, so she gets the specialness treatment. Woo. Go team!

And CornMo? He's amazing. Like, eaaaaaaaasily the best f*cking opener ever.

wow, any mention of the UK tour.

these set lists are looking pretty good i think, at least they've got some substance, so used to seeing bands who play 12 song sets etc.

Corn Mo is an amzing guy! I first saw him two years ago when he was Opeing for They Might Be Giants. He has fun upbeat music and had a bunch of fun stories to tell us. After the show I gave him all the money I had (which was less that $8) just because I liked his music that much, and I didn't have enough for merch

Didn't go to this one, but one of my co-workers did.  He noted that the opening PA music was Mr. Roboto.

Also, in case you aren't familiar, that brown noise thing was covered in disgusting detail by an episode of South Park.

Oh the Tulsa show was absolutely amazing!  I'll try and post some pics/vids later.  The 10 Hz thing was hilarious.  Where were you ChudleyCannons?  I was basically at the very front.  There was only one person in front of me...kind of.  But I was in the center, basically in front of Lindsay (drummer).  "The Ascent Of Stan" was pretty awesome with the clapping and all and then Ben telling us all to shut up on the slow parts of it.  Umm...was it just me or was I like the only person who knew "Learn To Live With What You Are?"  No one was singing, I even turned around and looked at everyone around me and no one knew it.  I was like, c'mon people.  Amazing song.  It was really funny when he played "Landed" because everyone was like "Yay, I know this song!"  It's the single!  Haha!  You can tell the people who actually know Ben's music.  Oh yah, Army was cool too.  He was about to teach us the horn parts and then was like "aww, f*ck it, you all know it" and just started playing.  It went really well too.  Overall an amazing show.  Did anyone record it (audio-wise...or video)??  Smaller venues are the best.

I totally agree Corn Mo was freekin' amazing too.

I was, well, in the very front, slightly to stage right. Your left, had a view of Ben's hands and ass essentially.

And I sang along with all of it. Don't worry. :D

I didn't know where else to put these, and because this is already a link off the main page might as well do it here....

I'm home. Have been for a while now, but if you would like to look at my pictures right away here's the linkage:

Tulsa:

Columbia:

Lawrence:

I'll beef this shit up with the entire BenAdventure story later. I just need some sleep now.

Nice pics, Allison. Thanks!

Ben's hair - if we're talking about it. Was definately wet when he came out in Tulsa.

But I'm pretty sure the hair is the same length it was in Nashville.

To me, it looks like he got a haircut. But, you were right next to him a bunch of times in the past few days, so I guess I'll take your word for it. ;)

I thought it was odd that nobody was singing along to "learn to live with what you are" as well.  This has been a favorite of mine for years.  Great show, I just wish he had played Philosophy and Underground.  I thought the crowd was really young though, lots of people 14 to 18 years old.
If anyone finds a copy of this show, please PM me.
There are a few songs up on youtube.

Oh yeah, Chole those two yes. I thought the same in Nashville. My guess is that myspace picture is a tad older than 10/24. Ha.

Hum, where I was, there were loads of people singing along to everything. Well, me and my friend and the people next to me were. It was good.
