It was made all the better by having front row seats (Row AA) smack bang right in front of Ben's synth, and we only booked the tickets at the end of december.

Welcome to the boards! You got REALLY lucky there, pal! Did you book through the venue directly?

Thanks for looking Andy! Next time, as you say ;) And EW, you must have had a cool view, though if you were directly behind I was probably jigging about and getting in the way all the time!

As for the pasta, basically he'd eaten a massive bowl of pasta and was regretting it... when he came back on for the encore he said that in normal life you can get out of things if you're going to throw up, but not in 'showbusiness'! :)
So much time, so little to say...

I had a great view Anna, straight in front of Ben. The sound was great too.

Thanks for posting the pasta story.I couldn't remeber all the details. He sang something about "throwing up just like president Bush did". I think Ben was struggling but it didn't hold him back. He asked for a pint of Guiness to see if that worked.

Did you see the piano stool fly at the end.One bounce on the piano and landed on the keys and stayed there. Great stuff. ;D

The lighting is always more fantastic in England, those roundthingers must be through the company that the man books his tech stuff through, they must not transport boards... I mean, treces and lights'd be hard to fly..... and expensive. But those cyc circles are so sweet. I am covetting them. Please send them to me. That'd be swell.

And I'm still freaking out about the f*cking melodica. So jealous.

Hello!

Just wondering if anyone who went to the Sheffield gig has a recording (either sound or video & sound) of "Kate"?

I'm particularly interested in the beginning, but would love to hear the whole song.

Any help appreciated

 :)

I'd like that too! Sam and Jared's singing was amazing. I've got a bit obsessed with Kate recently, especially the strings version...

Hey there! Are you one the couple that got it dedicated to them? I met you post-show - you told me the whole story about the bag and stuff.

Hello.  Yeah, that's right.  It was us - as Jared put it "Ah, you're the bag guys!"

That's why I'm so interested in that one - besides it being such a great song!  Would love to hear it again, and would like to hear what he said at the beginning when he dedicated it.

Nice to see you on the site! I was the guy with glasses and a little scraggly beard. As I remember, they started playing it, then only a few notes in Ben interupted and said "Oh wait - this is for Kate and Matt" and continued.

Wow - Ben interrupted a song for you!

I haven't come across a recording yet, but I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Remembered a couple of things! Well, actually, I found my scrap of paper that I'd written them on...

Firstly, Ben forgot the words to 'Learn to Live'. It went something like:

'I'm not saying the effort is a waste of time, but...
uh, mumble mumble mumble mumble shitf*ck
These hours of confusion, they will soon expire
Like my memory does.'

And my hastily scribbled lyrics to the sheffield song!
'It's been a while
Since I've been to Sheffield
The only thing I remember is...
Some son of a bitch stole my shoes
Off the stage
That's a true story

And Fish Sandwiches at McDonald's
Next to the Leadmill'

Not exact - and much better when sung by Ben - but I found my scribble and thought I'd throw it up there for posterity.
