Tour Board / Richmond 4/11/08
« on: April 12, 2008, 11:08:41 PM »
I can't remember the setlist in order and may have left some out (Richmond was a 12 hour round trip, and I'm still not asleep), but here's my best shot:

Errant Dog
Zak and Sara
Rocking the Suburbs
Philosophy/Dr. Pyser
Sentimental Guy
One Down
Morgan Davis
Losing Lisa
Not the Same
Bitches Ain't Shit
The Luckiest

From my vantage point, the audience was pretty cool with lots of fans, a few BAS frat boys, and a healthy amount of dancing and singing.

Right after the bridge of Morgan Davis, Ben stops, puts his head in his hands, and says, "I forgot the lyrics!"  The room goes quiet, then I yell out, "FIRE HIS HEAT!"  Ben points me out and says thanks!

No Rock This Bitch save a couple of seconds of piano noodling.  As previously stated in other threads, Ben broke a piano string and revealed that one of the 4.6 songs was Losing Lisa (which throws out the previous assumption that all of them were on the RTS b-sides EP).  Also my friend noticed that bits of this ceiling were falling as well during the show.

This show was my fifth and was the first time I actually got a decent view.  I met Ben after the concert and made him laugh by calling myself a nerd.  It was an epic moment.  Photographic evidence will be supplied by Mel soon.

General Board / WASO DVD region
« on: October 06, 2005, 08:25:16 AM »
I found this site that lets your preorder the WASO DVD:

However, it seems to ship to Australia only, and the DVD region is 4.  Is this going to be a region-4 DVD only, or are they going to make a region-1/all-region version as well?

non-geeky version: Is there going to be a US version of the WASO DVD, or is it only going to be availible to you lucky Aussies?

News / Ben in August issue of Harp
« on: August 26, 2005, 12:15:19 PM »
Didn't see this elsewhere so I thought I'd give the heads-up.  In August's Harp there's a one page article by Ben called "How Randy Newman changed my life."  I've only read an issue or two of Harp, but I think "how _____ changed my life" is a regular feature.  Anyway, I'll scan it for you kids tonight.

Transcription / TRANSCRIBERS - please read!
« on: August 20, 2005, 04:27:07 PM »
okay, let's try this again with a different approach.

If you have posted a link  to a transciption you have made and DO NOT wish to have a link to it on the Ben Folds Knowledge Board, please leave a comment.

You will not be hotlinked and you will recieve full credit for your transcription.  However, again, if you DO NOT wish for your transcription to be linked on the site, please speak now.

Our transcription section is very lacking at the moment - in fact, it mostly consists of amazon links to the Hal Leonard books, which leaves the non-album tracks and EPS SOL right now.

Transcription / Knowledge Board help from the Burbs

Hey kids.  I'm trying to put a dent in the Transcriptions category over at the Knowledge Board and would appreciate your help.  If any of you guys wouldn't mind me linking to your fan transcriptions, please reply.  I wanted to be on the safe side and ask.

General Board / Weird Al's iTunes playlist
« on: July 15, 2005, 08:55:09 PM »
I dunno if anyone has covered this yet, but Weird Al made a celebrity iTunes playlist on Thursday and it has a Ben song:
"The Luckiest: I love so many of Ben's songs, but I had to pick this one because I think it's the greatest love song ever written.  Seriously."

I rather enjoyed his picks overall: Spinal Tap, Cake, Beck, TMBG, and "Beat on the Brat" by the Ramones ( the "most upbeat dancable song about child abuse ever recorded")

Transcription / Rocky request
« on: June 26, 2005, 07:27:24 PM »
Do any of you groovy cats have Rocky transcribed?  I could probably figure it out with a few chords, so any little bit would help.  Thanks in advance.

Transcription / odd request - country joe and the fish
« on: June 02, 2005, 06:46:11 PM »
This may be a bit odd, but do any of you out there in internetland have sheet music to the piano part of Country Joe and the Fish's "I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag" ("...and it's 1, 2, 3/ what are we fighting for/ don't ask me I don't give a damn/ next stop is Vietnam")?   I've googled for hours and all I can find are guitar chords.   I want to play it so the masses of gutter punks that frequent my favorite open mic bar will stick around (instead of running when they see my keyboard).

Album Board / Ben's Conan performance
« on: April 27, 2005, 11:12:51 AM »
So what did you guys think?  I thought he seemed pretty nervous, but the string section was a nice touch.  The bit during the credits was the best, though.  I couldn't help but giggle (and agree) when Conan called Ben "pretty."
