Tour Board / A phone call from Allison with some info!
« on: November 05, 2006, 09:14:31 PM »
So, our fellow Suburbian, Allison (ChudleyCannons) just phoned me from the latest U.S. Ben show and gave me some nice info, and a chat with Jared!

So, according to Lindsay (and Allison), that little synth jam at the beginning of the myspace webcast WILL be featured on Ben's upcoming new album. She also mentioned that most of the tracks are done, and it just needs to be mastered. Great news!

In addition, I just got off the phone with Jared (courtesy of, yet again, Allison). Thanks, Allison!

Looks like Allison got herself a pair of free tickets to tomorrow night's show as well from Corn Mo. And as I like to say, you go girl!

Anyway, nice info. Thought I should put it up for her. She also said the setlists have not really varied from night to night. Silly Ben! Time to mix it up!

Hopefully we'll get a full report from her soon! Three shows! YOWZAA!

News / Second Life Chat.
« on: October 19, 2006, 06:19:55 PM »
It was really fun, some confusing parts, but once it got going, it was amazing.

Copying the text would basically be useless since, when he was being interviewed, it was all audio. But maybe someone recorded it. Also, the text he did type was basically: "f*ck you", "wanna fight?", "i didn't stab you did i?", and "uhhh".

Here are most of the questions, and what I could remember of the answers:

Q:Do you use computers/modern technology often?
A: Actually just started text messaging, and has 10 ringtones downloaded.

Q: Any more Dr. Dre covers on the way?
A: Wanted to do the whole Chronic album, and maybe he will.

Q: More just-internet stuff, or actual albums?
A: A little of both, likes the idea of both

Q: Reunion of The Bens?
A: Talks about seeing them lately, but says they're all too busy. Also said they need more Bens and started listing some....

(Then he starts playing some ringtones of his, one being "We Built This City" haha!)

Q: Favorite Over the Hedge character?
A: Hammy. Thought the whole movie could be based on just him.

Q: Keeping same direction as Silverman on newer album, or going different direction?
A: Not like SfS at all. More synths and what not.

Q: When is musical?
A: No time right now, maybe when he "grows up".

Q: Orchestral album?
A: They didn't record recent Australia gigs, but are looking to do some U.S. ones.

Q: Advice for new up-and-coming artists?
A: Practice. And to floss daily.

Q: A Weird Al collaboration?
A: Most likely not; needs to be spontaneous.

Q: Did he get the gift?
A: No he did not, but he said it was a nice thought, and he would love to see it.

Q: What kind of glasses? (takes them off, but can't see since they're off)
A: Giorgio Armani are the ones he has now (got them at a thrift shop (joke)), but he said his favorite aren't made anymore.

(starts making up a Second Life song, and starts singing it, then attacks the virtual fanbase with a lightsaber with his shirt off)

Q: Conan?
A: Really weird; he could only see out of one eye, and he flipped off the crowd. Hopes they don't cut that part out.

I thought that this should be a new thread so that they can be organized, and since it's tomorrow, I thought we should get crackin!

so far, there are:

1. Ask about The Bens talk of a reunion.

2. Did he get our gift?

3. He said he was working with a lot of new artists on his new album, who are these other artists?

4. How's it feel to be 40?

5. When can we expect the new-new album?

The last few were right off the top of my head...Keep em coming!

Musical discovery / Griffin House/Mat Kearney
« on: October 07, 2006, 02:02:59 PM »
I have two!

Okay, well I went to the Mat Kearney show last night. He's a Eugene boy, so that made it all the better. Anyway, this guy named Griffin House opened. And prior to seeing him, I knew one song called "Ah Me", which he played first. And is the best song by him, in my opinion.

here's his myspace:

And you can also download some of his songs from his website:

Just click the music tab, and then scroll down until you see some song links.
When he played last night, it was just him on acoustic guitar and some other guy on electric. It was really intimate, especially when he talked about his friend who is on death row that he's seeing today down in California, and how he wrote a song for him. Then he played it of course.

Here's Griffin and I at the end....he got a haircut that same day in Portland (being yesterday depending on when you're reading this):

Apart from Griffin, I wanted to know if anyone has heard of Mat Kearney. Like I said, he's a Eugene boy, and his song 'Nothing Left to Lose' is being played on tv show commercials, and also his song 'All I Need' was on the show Grey's Anatomy. He's different; he blends hip-hop with pop and rock melodies and choruses and it sounds awesome. A great performer too!
Here's his myspace:

He lives in Nashville now, which he called his second home, so he's not too far from our Benny Boy!

I understand if you don't like this music. It's kind of an acquired taste....enjoy!
