Indeed. So all you have to do is promote someone online and you're their significant other? I had no idea I was such a polygamist! or is that only when celebrities do it? Do you have to be in a photo with someone AND talk about them to start dating them? Because I have photos with a few creative folks I've promoted, and now I fear that I have multiple significant others. I'll have to break the news to my husband gently.

Heck, so I broke down and made a playlist of the stuff I suggested and the stuff previous posters suggested that I was familiar with and was on Spotify, plus some others I thought of. I approached it by thinking "what were the bands I liked once I discovered there was more to life than the Ramones?" The first two bands I dug that weren't punk were Ben Folds Five and the Zombies, and all the other bands kind of fell like dominoes.

If you're a fan of 90s style alt-pop, try Fleming and John's The Way We Are. Ben does backing vocals on one of the songs and co-wrote another. It's one of my favorite albums. There's a theory that "Brainwashed" off Way to Normal is about them, but as far as I know, nobody's got solid proof.
If you're just wanting some straight up piano-based rock/alt bands, here are some to check out: Fluid Ounces, The Hush Sound, Parachute Musical, Something Corporate, and the album Catalogue of Generous Men by Modern Skirts. Also highly highly recommend anything by the Argument from Morgantown, WV. They were a really awesome key-based power pop band that actually met at a BF5 show. Scott Simon, the lead singer, has a new band called Teammate that isn't so piano-y but is still pretty rad.
Oh, and not quite so keyboardy but if you're looking for good solid proto-Ben pop music, check out Jellyfish. And if you dig that, look into some of the baroque pop bands of the 60s like the Zombies and the Left Banke.

Lots of passion that, unfortunately, turned to lots of crazy and eventually became less about Ben, BFF, or anything the guys were doing and more about its own drama and negativity. I popped in over there the other day and I don't think I saw a single thing about TSOTLOTM there. Everything was about other music people were listening to and other inane stuff.
Yep. I was a .orger for a good couple of years, their token young dumb ska fan. Then when it started getting bitchy, I defected to here.

Everyone has given all sorts of intellectual analytically-deep insight into the new album, and I feel like I'd be farting all over everyone else's reviews if I tried that. So here's my not-so-deep review.
- Robert Sledge plays bass like a f*cking Centaur on this album. Double so live.
- this album was released on my birthday. The day before, they make a video with Fraggles. I must have done a lot of good this past year for the universe to be so nice to me.
- half these songs keep getting stuck in my head
- Not a fan of "Sky High" but Darren's songs have never really been my cup of tea in my decade+ years of fandom
- in my "buzzkill overly-PC leftybutthurt" moment of the day, the line "you not smile at him" in "Hold That Thought" sort of rubbed me the wrong way
- I cried the first time I heard "Thank You for Breaking My Heart" because I totally related to it and the chords hit my cry-button. This was unfortunate as I was on a public sidewalk going to work at the time.
- wasn't keen on "Micheal Praytor" the first few spins but it's grown on me
- "Draw a Crowd" is becoming a quick favorite
- I watched the Sessions DVD a few nights ago, and I'm 90% sure Darren is a vampire because he hasn't aged AT ALL

THANK YOU. I thought I was the only person on earth that didn't like Pentatonix. I thought it was one of those human deficiency things I tend to have with... eh, pretty much everything in life. I dug their Britney medley, but that's been it so far.
Urban Method has very slowly won me over ("Poison" sealed it for me), but I'm not too terribly attached to them.
I'm still rooting for Afro Blue. I'd love to hear any album of theirs, whether it'd be jazz standards or modern songs. I dug American Girl because it made me like a Tom Petty song, which is a pretty huge feat.

I totally flipped out when North Shore said they were doing Hanson at first. Disappointed they didn't. I was rooting for those grandpaps.
The group I'm rooting now for is Afro-Blue. I"m really digging their arrangements and jazziness.
One group that totally turned me off the first episode but has sense won me over is Urban Method. I though the whole "oooo, we have a rapper! rapapella!" was gimmicky, but they proved they have some serious chops in the 60s challenge. And then this week, they blew the roof off the place with that Bel Biv Devoe cover. (never thought I'd ever say the words "blew the roof off" and "Bel Bic Bevoe" in the same sentence)

I think my favorite track off the entire album is the demo for Losing Lisa. It sounds like it could be a Monkees single. It didn't take a lot of effort for me to imagine Mickey Dolenz singing it. Huge compliment from me.
I think I've said this before, and I may be in the minority, but I like the International Orange version of Tell Me What I Did better.
